My dimmer is broke and now I have tied the two strings together.. Is this safe? I got a shock when I touched the copperwire but replaced the cap of the dimmer without the mechanism in it...
Is that safe??

Um, are you talking about a cieling light or a lamp? First and foremost, always turn the electricity off before you ever attempt to work on eletrical stuff. If you don't, it's a good way to get killed. If you connect the two positive wires on a lamp it should be OK, just make sure that you have protection around it so there is no chance of someone coming into contact with a bare wire and getting shocked. If it's a cieling light, you really should have the switch replaced. Remember, always wire the same color wire to the same color wire. Black goes to black. White goes to white. If you wire a positive to a negative you will create a short circuit, probably blow a fuse or breaker and create the potential for causing a fire.

You don't sound very knowledgable about electricity. Either study up a good bit more about basic wiring or have someone who knows more about electrical work fix it.

If you are saying you tied the two hots that were on the dimmer together with a marrette then this will work but your light will be on all the time.

I highly recommend you call an electrician, sounds like your in way over your head.

No it is not safe, but fire hazard and shock could kill you. You should hire a electrician to fix it.
