I accepted an offer on my house this Monday. The couple who are buying it are not in a chain and neither am I. I wanted to know if I would be in my new house before christmas. My solictior has said it will probably take only 6 weeks. Has anyone sold that fast before?

I was thinking of planting a row of Kousa Dogwood Trees along my property. I live in zone 6. I was just wondering if you are happy with your tree? Does it bloom well? Does it look good in the fall? And most important, does the fruit make a big mess or do the birds and squirrels actually eat it? I was considering Milky Way Select. Do you recommend another variety? Why? Thank you for all of your help!

I've moved into a house in Woodbury around a year ago and have had problems with drains which I beleived was either a) a collapsed or b) blocked mains drain. I've had a company out to look at the problem who have found a manhole cover in the front garden which is full to the top with water. They have bailed out around 20 buckets from it however the manhole goes down around 1mtr and then starts to widen out although obviously cannot see very much. what I'm keen to find out is whether there is any way (national register etc) to find out whether or not this is a septic tank and what the history is (size etc) I am having the water I can see pumped out on Monday

I am looking for a table light that has a shape of a 'boy.' It looks like a little man on AOL, but the head part is where the light bulb is. Does anyone know where I can find one?

I entered the Great South Run last weekend and it was absolutely peeing it down with rain during the whole run. Got back to the car and the trainers were obviously soaking wet, they have dried out now but they smell disgusting.

These trainers are fairly expensive Brooks trainers, specifically for running in. The only way I can think of getting rid of the smell is to put them in the washing machine but I have heard that I shouldnt do that.

Would it be ok to put them through the wash or does anyone else have any other suggestions on how to get them clean again?

Its not the insides that smell, its the fabric on the outside.

Any ideas? thanks.

My office walls have a mid-level molding that separates it. On the bottom I have a brown wall paper and the top is painted. Well my business partner wanted a deep brown on top so we tried it and it does not look good at all, so the question is how I fix it with out repainting the whole office again. What I was thinking is a maybe a light brown mixed with glaze over the top to give it a kind of faux look. But the problem is with faux jobs the light paint is usually the base coat, so has anyone had any experience with the top layer being the light coat instead of the dark coat. THANKS
Brad

It's a pretty cheap coffee table its maple finish with crappy wood inside, and as soon as I put a cup on it, horrible dark stains appeared on it, so is there any way to get rid of them?
And I don't need any sarcastic remarks about buying cheap things or 'prevention is better than cure', I realise that but that is not helpful now.
I just need a way to get rid of the stains.

Although I have bled it, no air escaped. I turned the valves on the bottom of the radiator the other day and now don't know which direction they should face as one valve is hot but the radiator and other valve on the opposite side is cool.

I am trying to conserve gas this winter and would like to know, from someone who actually knows, how cold I can keep my house with any damage occuring to it. I know it has to be above 32 degrees F so that the pipes do not freeze, but does it have to be higher for other things I may not be thinking about? I have it at 55 right now, but we haven't seen a frost here yet...
