Day time, night time, home and not home?

Mostly I'm asking about Furnaces, but I'm interested in info from anyone that heats a home and uses a thermostat.

winter, but it hasn't stopped raining here in about two weeks....future doesn't look so promising either. Should I wait it out and get a few dry days in there or just go ahead and cover them up now?

I have a down comforter that I use all year long but it is white and I always put a "seasonal" comforter on top of it. I got a new winter comforter it is just a cheap Martha Stewart one but it is very itchy, and stiff. I have washed it twice and it hasn't helped. I can't wash it from home I have to take it to the laundry mat because it is a king size and doesn't fit in my washer or dryer. I really like this comforter and would like to use it but it just isn't comfortable or functional because it is too stiff.
Help please! :)

It doesn't rinse the dishes. They're clean, but they always have a soap residue. We have tried different types of soaps, but nothing seems to work. Any suggestions?

I am having a hard time deciding what color to paint my kitchen. from the kitchen you can look right in to the dining room and the dining room is painted burgundy with cream doors and edgingt. Right now my kitchen is yellow. I have a purple red grape theme going on. i think it looks tacky when you look at it and then see the burgundy? any ideas as to what color would combine??

Hi,

I'm wondering how much my electric bill will be, just an estimate. I'll be living in a one bedroom apartment. The dryer is electric, i'll have a wireless router, computer always on, tv on most of the time, printer, and fridge. Occassionally we'll have the toaster, microwave etc... being used. There's no need for the a/c right now, and during summer there are many many trees all around our apartment, and it seems like that would keep it cool and comfortable. Right now it's freezing walking around the complex, but not in the apartment.

Im am moving from California to New York and the only big thing I am taking is my bed. Movers are to expensive and I might have to freight my bed. I called Fed Ex but before they can let me know if I can ship my bed, they need to know how much does it weigh. Obviously I dont have a scale large enough for my bed and I have no clue how much a bed weighs. Thanks!

This is stupid but I haven't mowed a lawn before...what should I do with the cut grass? We have one of those grass collectors on the back of the mower, and we don't have a compost bin. Should I just not use the collector thing and leave the cuttings on the lawn?

I have basic sewing skills, but do not want to get into the big fancy quilts or buy a really expensive machine. I'm looking at rag quilts and I'm thinking those would be easy and fun to make for gifts. What machine would be good for that kind of simple sewing?

The room will only be about 10 by 10. Granted I will have the run of the house but this should be cheaper than an apartment shouldn't it. He was throwing around numbers of $450 or $500 plus splitting utilities. His payment is $1200. This seems like a lot to pay to rent a room in a friends house. Is there some kind of formula or a suggested amount?

My carbon monoxide detector chirps once every min or so, the light will flash red once in awhile which means battery power is getting to it. Will it still detect carbon monoxide until my husband gets home tonight to replace the pack that goes in it, or should i be concerned?

I primed my kitchen walls, then painted 2 coats of paint. Looks great. I then painted my living room walls with JUST 2 coats of paint. Looks EXACTLY the same. I could care less how LONG the paint will last because i don't plan on being in my home longer than 3 years or so. So really, how important is it to prime?
