Well it seems that Aneaglehart13 has covered everything you need to know about your problem. Jet-Dry as others have mentioned is only for spotting and not for filming and can complicate the problem by causing more filming. Never put vinegar in the dishwasher during a wash cycle since vinegar is an acid and the detergent is an alkali( base) they have a tendency to cancel each other out(neutralize) and there will be minimal cleaning. Vinegar can be used to clean out the dishwasher however but the Glisten or a cup full of Tang will do a much better job. You can never put too much detergent in a dishwasher for it to cause a washability problem as one has mentioned as long as your water temp. is hot enough, but you should only put the recommended amount or slightly less in the main wash section of the dispenser and only if you have heavily soiled or extra greasy dishes do you need to put any detergent in the prewash section of the dispenser or you are just wasteing detergent.

Always run the hot water in the sink before starting the dish washer, Your "hot" water needs to be a min. of 120 degrees. every 6 months use a product like "glisten" to clean out your dishwasher, Use granular (powder) detergents the best being cascade complete, detergents do expire check it when your down to the bottom by putting 1 tablespoon into a glass of your "hot" water stir for 30 sec. if you see white dots at bottom throw it away.....by the way most of This information can be found in the book that came with your dishwasher...oh..& don't rince the last dirty dishes you put in...your detergent is looking for the protien in the food to release it's cleaning action,if it does not find it the detergent tends to foam & leave a white residue. bet this helps..good luck

We had this problem and it all boiled down to the fact that we were using way too much soap. Face it, most of us pre-wash our dishes before putting them in the dishwasher anyway. You don't need much soap, just a tablespoon in each compartment (I'll bet you're filling them both full) even if the dishes are not pre-washed. Try cutting down on the amount of soap you use, and you'll see a difference.

Other than Jet Dry, try pouring white vinegar into the bottom of the dishwasher. My old one did that & all that'd work was vinegar. Pour in about 2 cups into the bottom of the dishwasher before you load it. Cascade 2in1 Action Packs are the best for dishwashers.
Depending on how old your dishwasher is, Jet Dry liquid is best. The baskets are for older dishwashers, 5 years & older.
Another solution is to replace the dishwasher with a newer model. I finally did that last year & am glad I did.

It sounds like you are not getting hot water into the rinse cycle. You may need to replace the heating element.
