I presume you've lifted most of it off with a knife already. There are 2 tricks:

1) Put some ice in a freezer-bag and freeze the rest of the wax to see if it crumbles off

2) Put an absorbent cloth over the wax (eg kitchen towel) and heat with an iron.

What colour wax is it and what colour sofa? With some blotting paper pressed onto the wax (you having picked off as much as you can), if you apply a hot iron, this will melt the wax and draw it into the paper. However the pigment in the candle might not come out completely and might remain on the sofa, hence my original question. If this is likely to be an issue I suggest you seek the advice of a dry cleaner.

Hi
There is two ways to remove wax from fabric.

First you will need to do is a test. To do the test put some water, about the size of a quarter on the back edge of the cushion and wipe it with a white towel and let it dry on it’s own.

If you get colour transfer onto the towel it is not safe to clean.
If there is no change in colour and no watermark then it is safe to clean or spot clean.
If there is a watermark but no colour change it is safe to clean only thing is you will need to clean the whole thing. (to stop watermarks) you can not spot clean.

1/ Use the edge of a butter knife to carefully scrape off or lift up as much solid wax as you can .Use a dry clean white terrycloth place it over the wax spot then heat it with a iron on low setting( less chance of damaging the fabric). Keep checking the spot every ten seconds or so, moving the terrycloth so that a clean spot is on the fabric.

2/ Which is the better way. Use the edge of a butter knife to carefully scrape off or lift up as much solid wax as you can Heat up a full kettle of water and pour it slowly on the fabric at the same time with a wet vac vacuum up the water. Keep on doing this until the wax is removed.

Put an A4 piece of paper over the area where the wax is, cover the A4 paper with a damp T-Towel and press down on the T-Towel with a hot iron. The damp towel will stop the paper from scorching and the wax will be heated up and attach itself to the paper

Put some absorbent paper over it, then newspaper and then iron over it - the heat from the iron melts the wax which gets absorbed by the paper - you may have to do this a few times and by careful with the newspaper in the sofa is a pale colour

If the textile is portable, take it and place it on your ironing board and with a super form of newspaper, you would be soaking up the wax: place fabric first on the ironing board, then take a sheet of newspaper (or undeniable paper bag) and prepare the nice and comfortable iron to the paper, the wax will soften and alot of it willbe absrbed into the paper. save doing this till you notice there is infrequently any wax coming by. then you definately merely might desire to handle the stain. If the wax is on a settee, or chair etc, take your iron to the furniture and plug it in there and do a similar component with the newspaper or paper bags.

This one is easy, put a piece of brown paper over the wax , then iron over the brown paper, wax should stick to paper. then use a tiny bit of washing up liquid to remove the oil left behind

All you have to do is use an warm iron, and folded paper towels. Put the towel over the wax and iron, keep moving the towels till all wax is gone.

Place blotting paper over the wax and go over it with a hot iron. The paper absorbs the liquid wax.
