Do I need to cut the top off now that winter is approaching? I want this mum to grow back next spring!

There really isn't much care involved when dealing with Belgian Mums. They have many more flowers and sturdier stems than normal mums and don't require pinching. I would care for it like any other plant (watering etc.) and not worry too much :)

As far as cutting the top off - you can cut down the dead canes when they are dry and brittle (around thanksgiving). You can also cut them down in the spring before the new growth comes out. If you choose spring, that would also be a great time to fertilize with a general purpose granular fertilizer (10-10-10 etc.)
