take out the drawer, thoroughly clean it, and the surrounding area, the softener cup gets blocked usually when too much soap powder is put into the drawer, so put a little less powder in on each cycle.

On most machines the softener syphons out of its compartment when it gets filled with water on the rinse cycle. there may be a small removable bit in the drawer, part of which forms the syphon. you must make sure this part is nice and clean and clear, else it wont work...toothbrush, knitting needle....

The other answers might work if not get some one to check the water valves. You could have three valves one to let in hot water one to let in cold water for the soap compartments and one to let in water for the softener the cold and softener are normally a twin valve. The valves are located where your hoses connect to

It might be plugged... Take it out and wash it. I have to do that from time to time.. It sometimes gets rather dirty in that area to include the place where the soap powder goes in, etc... so just wash out the whole thing

Are you using a concentrated fabric conditioner? Try using the non-concentrated kind or dilute the concentrated one. I find this works for me. Even if I've just cleaned out the drawer the machine won't take it up if I use concentrated.

You have chosen a cycle that does not add softener on the final rinse or your programmer is knackered.
