There is no such thing as "a mouse in the house" there Really is a family of mouses in your house- the fact that it is a baby tells you that there is a mommy and daddy and other siblings scoffing around-they are dirty creatures and can multiply like rabbits.

Go to your local hardware store and get a product that will get rid of the mice- get one that that they are attracted to, eat it and get real thirsty and will escape outside for a drink (make sure you do not have water anywhere in your house that they have access to). There is nothing more disgusting than smelling decaying carcasses stuck in your walls for a few months and believe me, that is exactly what happens because that's where they live- in your walls from the attic to the basement. You also have to try to find their point of entry- most likely between the foundation of the home and the 2x4 wood framework, but they have no real skeleton so they can squeeze through a hole drilled for wiring from the outside. Good luck- and remember, you can always buy a gerbil and keep it in a cage if you need a pet.

It may be cute, but if there's a baby there are also parents. And don't keep it as a pet -- wild mice carry parasites and diseases, some of which can be passed on to humans. Wild mice are destructive (they will eat through wires, shred furniture and textiles to make fluff for their nests, leave disease-ridden droppings everywhere). If you want to catch it without killing it, there are traps that will let you do so -- but don't keep it, release it out in a field somewhere FAR from your home. Then put the trap back and catch and remove the parents.

I agree with the family on getting rid of it. If there is a baby running around chances are the parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, and cousins are there too. This could turn into a very large rodent problem. Besides, mice are carriers of many diseases.
If you want a pet mouse I would suggest going to the pet store to get one.

Ok mice like peanut butter. So what you do is, get a spoon. put peantu butter on the handel. Balance the spoon on the counter top. Leaving the peanut butter hanging off the counter. Put a bucket or trashcan under the spoon. when the mouse goes out to take the peannut butter. It will fall into the trashcan or bucket. Be sure what ever you use. It's tall eanough so the mouse cant get out. Then take it to the vet.

Get a gallon jug (glass) the type with the small neck, put some cheese or cereal in the jug, set it on it's side with a (small ladder) piece of wood for the mouse to climb in. The mouse will go in the bottle & can't get back out because of the slippery glass sides. It works, we've done this to catch & release mice years ago.

Remember that mice carry mites & they will bite.

You definitely need the mouse gone. I am an animal lover also and was in the same prediciment. That one mouse I had turned into about 10 mice within days. So you don't want to be infested. They also smell once they infest. Thier droppings smell really bad. I would just get a cat and try to get it out of your mind...focus on your new cat...and let your new baby do its job.

You need to be super careful around mice like that. They have fleas that spread disease and their waste could carry the Hanta virus which is deadly. You can humanely catch it and then release it into the wild. If you truly want a mouse as a pet go to the pet store and buy one. Much safer for you and your loved ones.

Wild mice should not be kept as pets, due to the amount of diseases they carry. Did you know that mice leave a CONSTANT trail of urine wherever they walk- hardly hygienic. The best thing to do is get rid of it.

However, I can understand your concerns about killing it, but live catch traps are on the market which are totally harmless. You could catch it and set it free in woods.

But please don't try to keep it as a pet- the germs mice carry can make humans seriously ill.

Place the big half of a shoebox at a tilt, resting on a stick. Tie a string to the stick, bait under the box, wait, and pull the string so the box lays flat, thus trapping the mouse.

hold it! you want it as a pet? nope! no way! these cute creatures are not a good pet ever! get rid of that idea! they breed all kinds of stuff, some that you dont want to know about. they can be rabid meaning if it bites you you could be infected with rabies. careful what you want in the line of pets & this is not a good one. get some glue boards & put them around. once you catch it, throw the cute critter & the board away in the trash can !
