I'm designing my house and want to place my garage right at the rear of the plot. I want to know how much space I should leave as driveway between the house and the compound wall. My car is medium sized .

During the summer the nights are cold. I wish I could open a window and have all the hot air rush out. Why doesn't somebody design a house to do just that?

Hi.
Here is the situation. Every room in this house is carpeted. When we pulled up the one in the kitchen we found two more layers of carpet and an uneven cement slab. The cement has been leveled, sealed and painted. Now we want to have floors put in. Our options are tile, hard wood and linoleum (sp). All are within our budget, but we cannot figure out what is better and less breakable. I have cast iron kitchen furniture, heavy wood bookcases, steamer trunks, two kids who forget to remove thier shoes while inside, and two large dogs.
Any ideas which type will last longer?
Thank you.

I accidently spilt some oil after frying vegetable fritters, and the nearest thing I could see was a kitchen towel which I used to wipe it up. I've washed the towel several times with lots of water and detergent, but the smell doesn't go. What should I do to get rid of it?

We finally decided to replace our old sofa/love seat--ours is at least 10 years old and has seen us through the birth of grandchildren and served us well. In searching for a new set, we were surprised at what was available (as well as the cost) and decided we would reupholster what we have. We ran across some fabric at LaZ-Boy that we really liked but to purchase it would cost $50 a yard--a hefty price considering we need 40 yards. Does anyone know where we could purchase LaZ-Boy fabric directly from the mill? We know the name of the fabric and have the number that we got when we were at LaZ-Boy but don't know how to find out which company makes it. Any ideas on how to begin a search such as this will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

The adjustment seems so sensitive and "light" is there any way to make it stay put? Or is it just something I have to live with???

Hello all & thank you in advance for any help. I'm looking for a 110 voltage electrical "No vent" (aka ventless) clothes dryer of good quality & medium at least capacity. As with any investment of quality appliances, I would perfer to invest in a higher quality appliance that will endure time and proper use. And I'm willling to wait, compare & research for the exact appliance decision v. I live in an apartment and has become an inconvience with constant break down of community dryer to hauling wet washed loads of laundry to a public laundromat. I have reasearched various searches and used compare features but the specifics of what I'm looking for were not listed. I have called various local places for advice while discussing online web site models & info (i.e. Best Buy, Home Depot and searched online but very little info except one of the very small combo washer & dryer units). I prefer a larger model and would like to find more variety as with any enlightened shopper. Thank you again.

I just let my dog in for his right before bedtime potty and found out that he got sprayed by a skunk. Needless to say he did not want to go back out, so after chasing him all around the house, I finally got him back out. Problem is, now my house stinks! The skunk got him pretty bad because there are some wet spots on the deck where the stink dripped off him while he was waiting to come in. I already sprayed air freshener but it still reeks! HELP!!
