I want to replace the existing tile with new tile - without taking up the old. I've been told I can retile over the existing. Is this a good way of doing it?

Anyone know how long PVC tends to last in the great outdoors? I am talking about the white stuff, schedule 40? And I am talking about the wilds of New Mexico, lots of sun, lots of rain lately, lots of wind. How long before it becomes brittle?

I don't know how the smell got in there, but I have some clothes that have been washed and dried, and when they get damp, like after my shower, they have that mildewy smell. Is there some laundry treatment, product, etc. that I can use to get that smell out, or do I just have to throw the stuff away?
