If I take them up, should I wait until Fall? I live in northern Vermont near Canadian border.

Dig them up in the fall rinse off the dirt and allow to air dry for a few days. Store them in peat moss in a paper bag in a cool dry area.

Dig them in the fall in Northern areas. Keep them in a cool, dry, dark place and after the spring thaw you replant them where you want them. In the deep south we leave them in the ground because they will not be forced out of the ground by repeated freeze thaw of the ground.

You will not need to dig them up if you have mild winters where it does not freeze much. Be sure they are planted at the max depth and mulch with about 3 inches of mulch and you can leave them planted

I didn't dig up my bulbs last year and I lost them all. Dig them up.
