But they seem to be coming back again and again. I clean the bin every time it is emptied and even seal the bags that go in it but they always come back. What can I do to prevent them coming back???

Gosh... I never know anyone else had this problem. Maggots are larva that deveop from the eggs of flys. Bleach has a tendancy to destoy the eggs. Wash your green bin using bleach. I have now even left a little bleach in the bottom of ours.

The maggots feed on rotting food material. Maggots are basically baby flies. To stop it happening wrap you waste in plastic bags or a sealable container so that the flies can't lay their eggs in the rotting food.

if your throwing chicken bones in the bin unwrapped you'll get maggots in no time. bag up any left over meats and throw bleach over the bags in the bin.

Put some disinfectant in a spray bottle, and spray it in your bin before putting in your bin-bag.
