According to the American Speech - Language - Hearing Assoc., sensorineural hearing loss can be caused by diseases, birth injury, drugs that are toxic to the auditory system, and genetic syndromes. I would like to know what kind of drugs or chemicals can cause sensorineural hearing loss. Thanks for the help.

You all know what your mom always told you

If you stare into the microwave, you'll go blind!

Truth, or just a mother's bull?

I was going down the side of a slope or facing the hill going down sideways. I was leaning into my position so my knees were far out further than my ankles. I heard a pop and my leg had a terrible pain. I had been hit by a skier passing by who was using his poles to get going faster and a pole hit my my achilles and there was so much tension in my achilles the doctor said it snapped when the point on the pole jabbed it. Is this very common or have you heard of it happening?

im writing a paper for human biology about muscle injuries. It supposed to be realistic, so i would like lots of details. what im most concerned about is the procedures and questions the doctors will put you through. x-rays? casts? that kinda thing. OH, and the patient is a 5 year old boy. how should the doctor react to him? personal experiences are very welcome!

I was pushing a heavey weight this morning, I had a straight back and was using my legs.
I felt a snap/ping/click/bang in my calf. Almost a mechanical type feeling.

No my calf hurts and I can't extend the muscle (I.e extending my leg behind me as in walking. When he legs below me theat's as far back as I can go. In contraction (moving it forward) it's as bad.

What do you think I've done? Will it be a muscle or tendon problem?

It ended up being a bead.
Anyways, he has 4 molars coming in and has a nasty booger nose.
Except, now there is a little blood now too when his nose runs.
Is this normal? Or should I worry something else is up there?
Thanks!

I went in to have gall bladder removed and while doing this the surgeon made 2 incisions into my colon. I was not given instructions to use enema before surgery and my colon leaked into my large intestine. It has been 2 months since surgery and still having trouble. I vomit alot after eating, severe back pain, and run low grade temperatures. Surgeon doesn't do anything, he just says it takes time to recuperate. Just want some info on what I can do and my rights to do it.

Three weeks ago,I slammed my elbow into a door frame. The bone took the impact straight on. It still hurts when I lean on it or even rub it. When I lean on my elbow, it feeks like there is a marble rolling under it, yet I can't see any swelling. Anyone know what is wrong?

I know there may not be too many doctors around but if you have had this terrible experience,

How long did you spend with a cast?
How long did it take to bend your knee?
How long did it take to be able to walk again (if not normally something close to that)?

My cousin was assulted in her home in march this year, surgeons inserted a rod and screws and part of her right hip bone but it's such a mess and fallen apart and they say they can't do any more, other surgeons say it's the original surgeons duty of care to fix her, in other words they are too scared to fix someone else's mess incase something goes wrong i suppose.Poor girl is at risk of loosing her job and her home, and she is in terrible pain. I have emailed about 10 surgeons around australia,, if they dont; reply what else can we do to help her?

"left knee of a friend around left side of kneecap just below looks swolen, a bit black and blue, no pain, but as the person walks, she says it feels a bit spongy. No health insurance due to lack of funds. The same knee had had a dislocated knee cap which was operated on some 15 years ago. She says no pain.

Thoughts? Ideas? remember: no health insurance, Queens, NYC, NY
