right after the injury, use ice for 24-48 hours - this helps reduce the swelling and inflammation. once the injury has gone down in swelling, try alternating heat and ice - you can do 15-20 minutes of heat, then 15-20 of ice....then nothing for an hour or so, then try it again. also dont forget to take something like advil, because advil will help to redce the swelling and inflammation as well.

The standard is to ice the first forty eight hours. Put the ice pack on for fiteen and off for forty-five. Then after that ice for ten, stretch and heat pack for ten.

To prevent injuries you should stretch before and after the activity.

If the pain continues more than seven days, head to a doctor's becaues you could have done serious damage!

I was stoned on my 21st birthday in a ski race on a dry slope, I did a superman down the slope breaking my thumb I was like hmm something doesn't feel quite right, took off my glove and my thumb was kind of hanging at an angle... pretty weird it didn't really hurt to start with Sorry to hear about your accident though - I don't know how to help with that!

Cold first it helps constrict blood vessels and reduce swelling. Then the next day you can use heat. It helps blood resume circulation, and relieves stiffness.
