There is a high and unsafe possiblity of cross-sensitivity. I usually recommend against it.

No, it's almost the same thing. Your doc should have told you that you can't take it. But don't worry, there are lots of alternatives for you.

Just a warning based on personal experience: I'm allergic to Amox. also ... one time a few years ago, the doctor gave me something called Erythromycin (e-rith-ro-my-cin) in pill form, and it made me sick as hell. I couldn't stop puking. So if they want to give you those pills, ask them: "Is it true that those are really hard on your stomach?" and see what they say. Anyway, good luck!

Antibiotics ending in cillan have penicillan in them don't take it.

Actually, yes you can.


I am ***HIGHLY*** Allergic to Amoxacillian.


I was recently put on the antibiotic Cephylexin, which is basically the same drug, only mild down.


To be sure, I would ask your doctor.

No, because it is a cillan. You would have to take a different type of antibiotic.

No they belong in the same family..........if you're allergic to penecillin then you shouldn't take anything that ends with "cillin"
