I injured my arm in the area of my elbow at work about 7 weeks ago and have been off work since. I finally got an MRI done about 2 weeks ago which showed 2 muscle tears, considerable edema and a hematoma. None of this seems to be getting much better. The hematoma is still rather large, pain is persistent and now the bone just below my elbow seems almost bowed out and the skin over this section of bones appears very light, it's almost as though the bone is protruding. I keep being told by the primary care doctors that I need to see an orthopedist, but workers comp has yet to authorize it. I have been given no instructions on how to care for this injury, nor have I been given an estimate of healing time. There was no opinion on why the bone suddenly looks and feels the way it does either. Also, what might an orthopedic doctor do to treat injuries like this? Any clue, anyone? Thanks!

My daughter was hit on the foot, just below her big toe, with a horseshoe. It is extremely swollen, painful & bruised. I am sure it is broken. Does she need to go to the ER or can she wait until tomorrow and go to the doctor? It is also very cold and pale at the site of the injury. The remainder of her foot and her toes are normal in color.

I hurt my finger, apparently, this summer. it was slightly swollen in the middle part of the digit. it hasnt stopped being sore and swollen, on a daily basis - bad in the morning, better by evening. Just today I realized that it is the only finger that will NOT pop when i try to crack my knuckles. Did i do something to the joint, or what?

Hey everyone, I am sorry to be so graphic, but I just have to ask this. Thursday, I noticed that I had a bump on my buttock. Well, it was almost blister like, so dumb me decided to bust it. Well, I was fine after that, but the next day (Friday), I noticed it was somewhat sore. It wasn't too bad or painful, just uncomfortable. Well, as the weekend has progressed, things have gotten sooo much worse...it has gotten to the point where I cannot sit on my butt. It's almost kinda funny, but right now, I am on my knees typing this question. I've also pretty much lost my appetite. This thing is very painful and stressful. I have to go to the doctor first thing tomorrow morning, and I am just praying they give me something that will immediately decrease the pain. I could kick myself for waiting so long. Anyway, the wound is now very very painful and sore. Also, I noticed a yellow discharge coming from the wound. Does this sound like a sign of infection? Do you think i'll get a shot?

I went dancing at a club last Thursday night. The music didn't seem louder than it usually is at such places, but I noticed a ringing in my left ear as I was leaving. I woke up Friday with it still there--this follows for Saturday and now today. Should I be worried? Anything in particular I should do? Or should I just let it pass? Thanks, guys.

So here's the deal...I'm a cross country runner and I ran in a meet on thursday. I got a stomach cramp shortly after finishing the race (which is not that unusual for me), but the cramp has stayed with me for the past three days!! It's in the right side of my abs...any advice as to how I can get rid of this cramp (or if it even is a cramp)?

A few months ago I went running down a hill, and afterwards my lower back was very uncomfortable and in pain. Since then, I have a dull constant pain and/or uncomfortableness in my lower back, it now cracks several times a day (never use to before), and the worst part is that my arms and legs go numb all the time even if I'm just sitting normally (so something in my spinal cord may be injured, I'm guessing).

I don't want to see a chiropractor who's just going to crack my back because I don't think that s what I need, but I'm wondering what type of doctor (chirpractor, orthopedic surgeon, etc.) I should really see and what should be done (x-ray, mri, etc.)?

While I was playing MLB last night at football practice, I went in to a pile and got a cleat to my shin. It one of the most painful things i have ever experienced. When I got up and tried to walk I almost fell over and was limping pretty badly for the rest of practice. After I got home it was still severe pain and I iced it, but I couldn't move it, and it was warm to the touch. My leg was swelled up so it looked like I had a 2nd kneecap. It is still painful to the touch and swelled up today and I am still having trouble walking on it without limping.

So, one of my ribs on my back has been hurting for almost a week now when I sit for long periods of time and when I breathe in deeply. I am not sure what this is!

Also, a few days ago I woke up and was getting sharp pains in my chest/stomach area right below where my bra sits. I am not sure if these are associated or what is going on! HELP!

I was in a very bad accident two years ago and I spent a lot of time in the hospital. I could not use my entire left side. I was issiued a premment handicap parking permit. It has been two years and I've gotten better and on Thursday 07,2006 I was told that the Handicap parking is for our patient who has a walker, a cain. Now I have all of these and I have used them all and more. I have been in physical therapy every day for two years yes I've gotten better but I feel that no one has the right to tell me where to park when I have a legal parking permit that was issiued by the D.P.S. of Texas.

I'd really appreciate some advice on this.

I'm slightly bow-legged and I've been having atrithis in my knees for the past few months as a result of this. Doctors have told me it WILL get worse in time to come(i'm only 20 now). There is no real cure for athritis, just medicine and therapy to reduce the pain. However, I'm looking at surgery. Doctors may not recommend it since surgery on legs will always have post-effects like blood clots, infections, etc. But at the same time, if I go for surgery to straighten my legs, it will lessen the pressure on my knees and thus reduce my athritis significantly. I also know that being bow legged has always affected me socially. Every other part of me is fine except my legs and its so disheartening. Is surgery worth it?
