Hey everyone, I am sorry to be so graphic, but I just have to ask this. Thursday, I noticed that I had a bump on my buttock. Well, it was almost blister like, so dumb me decided to bust it. Well, I was fine after that, but the next day (Friday), I noticed it was somewhat sore. It wasn't too bad or painful, just uncomfortable. Well, as the weekend has progressed, things have gotten sooo much worse...it has gotten to the point where I cannot sit on my butt. It's almost kinda funny, but right now, I am on my knees typing this question. I've also pretty much lost my appetite. This thing is very painful and stressful. I have to go to the doctor first thing tomorrow morning, and I am just praying they give me something that will immediately decrease the pain. I could kick myself for waiting so long. Anyway, the wound is now very very painful and sore. Also, I noticed a yellow discharge coming from the wound. Does this sound like a sign of infection? Do you think i'll get a shot?

It sounds like you do have an infection. You probably will need anti-biotics. If the infection has progressed significantly, you will probably need an injestion of anti-biotics followed by oral doses. It is good that you will see a doctor tomorrow who can assess what is going on. I hope you have not started a fever because you could get a systemic or septic infection.

Good luck.

Sounds like a boil of sorts. Probably Is infected thus the yellow drainage and all. So he may just clean it and all but may have to lance it. You can get from your doctor a topical cream for the pain and I'm sure he will give you an antibiotic also ask for some pain meds. Soon as the antibiotic kicks in a day or so it should do better on the pain and all. I worked in the hospital and seen alot of these type of things. They are so painful i feel sorry for you especially in the area it is in. If he drains it im sure that will help to ease the pain too. Well wishes

For now wash the area and your hands with soap. Place a soft cotton lint on the area underneath your clothing. Like everyone else has said, you have an infection. You would be wise to check it out with your doctor straight away. They will clean the wound for you. Don't leave it till late as it may get worst. Heed what people say about seeing a doctor. Hope you feel more comfortable soon. You might not need an injection, so don't worry. You will feel much better after seeing doctor.

Yes, it does sound like an infection. It could be a cyst that you popped, and now it is open to bacteria and infections in the air. If I were you, I would just go into the ER tonite. That has to be so painful. You may have to have it removed. I know someone who had the same problem you did. It became too painful for him, he waited like you too, till the last minute. Don't mess around. If you cannot get to the dr tonite, then make sure you get in tomorrow. And don't be embarassed. All medical staff are trained to treat all the parts of your body. It will just be very common to them, and they won't judge your butt, I promise...take care and hang in there.

Sounds to me like it was a blister that became infected when you burst it, but you need the advice of a professional. Going to your doctors is the best thing to do really, at least then you'll know what it is and with any luck be able to get something to take away the pain so that you can at least sit down again! Good luck and I hope your bottom area gets better soon! :-D

Did you have more blisters come up? It sounds like herpes. You can get it on the buttock by sitting on a toliet seat where someone else sat. The first case of it is very bad in comparison to recurrences.

I had a similar problem sometime back. Mine turned out to be a clogged sweat gland (can't remember the medical term). My doctor squeezed as much stuff out of it as he could (gross, I know) and then prescribed heat and some cream to treat it. It took a while for it to completely go away, but eventually it did get better.

It has all the features of being an infection.. but HOW could you get an infection there? You are wise, in this case, to visit a doctor to determine what it is. doubtful you will get a shot

It sounds like an infected boil. I would try hot compresses until you see the Dr. It needs to drain. Hope this helps a little.

Infection is always the first consideration.. is why the area should have been cleaned, applied an antiseptic and bandage it to keep any organisms out of the cavity. Hindsight is always much better!
