This refers to a compression fracture of the vertebrae. The body of the vertebra is broken and is crushed into itself. This puts pressure on the nerves and pain in the back.
Treatment is either surgery to decompress the nerves or bedrest with traction by a physiotherapist or chiropractor. Another possibility is to put a brace on the back to put you into hyperextension.
The aim is to take pressure off the vertebra and to allow it to resort to its normal size.

vertebrae are in your spine, and when you break your back, or seriously injure your back you may compress the vertebrae..squish them together. There isnt must you can do to treat it, other than surjery..stay off your feet and dont spend long amounts of time sitting.

If this is in reference to a compression fracture, this is a condition that usually occurs in the spines of individuals with osteoporosis, but can also occur due to traumatic injury. It is essentially a type of fracture of the vertebrae where the body of the vetebrare usually becomes "wedgeshaped"...it has become compressed due to the weakened bone structure.
Most compression fractures are stable and are self-limiting conditions without neurological involvement. Usually the pain subsides in 4-8 weeks.
Treatment of a compression fracture usually includes pain medication, limiting activity, and addressing the medical history of osteoporosis. Another treatment that has been up and coming is "kyphoplasty" where the vertebral body is injected with a type of "cement" to help solidify the fracture.
