Possibly. The heart is encased in the pericardia sack and by pulling the barb out this caused the heart to hemorrhage (bleed) into the sack surrounding the heart. When the sack filled with blood the pressure would prevent the heart from beating. However, it's a natural instinct to pull something out of your chest. If stabbed it's better to leave a knife or barb or whatever in place to prevent the bleeding into the pericardia heart sack, thereby causing the heart to stop beating.

The poison isn't adequate to kill a guy or woman (till you're allergic, like a bee sting). somebody became into stung on the final cruise we've been on, and different than an exceedingly sore ankle she became into in simple terms superb. in spite of the undeniable fact that, if he had left the barb in he might have particularly had an excellent-sized stingray related to his chest and attempting desperately to flee. i think of the struggling with animal might have torn the barb out and that would desire to have killed him besides. a minimum of this style he pulled it out and swam to the exterior earlier he died, so his physique wasn't in simple terms lost at sea continuously.

Good question.
The barbs are 'serrated' like an arrow head. They actually do more damage coming out than going in.
However it is likely that the toxin on the barb caused him to go into cardiac arrest so the answer to your question would be that it is highly unlikely that he would have lived had he left the barb in.

nobody here knows enough about it, but yeah youre supposed to leave objects in if you have a puncture wound and let the doctors handle it, because youll bleed a lot more once its out and you can do more damage. but im sure in the heat of the moment your gut instinct is to tear it out. it pierced his heart though, i bet he would have died anyway considering he was many miles away from an emergency room

not shure yet.
I dont know if the barb was still on the stingray or not.
if he pulled it out to not be conected to the ray?
If he pulled it out and was not conected to the ray I would give him a 25% better chance of living or less.
it did puncture his hart but it would have been sealed but to get to a Dr in time to save him I dont think he had enough time.
better to have a quick death.

As a Viet-Nam veteran I wondered about that very thing. I have seen wounds, similar to this in the respect of being sort of a plug as well as a weapon. It wasn't until I got a better idea of the barb, it's shape, size, how far it penetrated his chest,............all the way through I understand...............even I will have to say, he didn't stand a chance,he would have never left that spot alive, not many would...............................................................LATER

no, it had already created a hole in his heart, it literally wouldve been his last, dying act.
Like getting shot or stabbed in the heart, almost instantaneous.
Almost.
Now stop bothering about it. The world has lost a great character, but his family has lost a father, a son, a husband, a brother. That is the true sadness.

That depends on whether the barb was acting as a plug for the hole in his heart, or if it did so much damage going in (far more likely) that he would have died anyway.
Wait for the coroner's report.

It is possible that he would have lived. One of the rules of first aid is to not to pull out any impaled object. If the spike actually hit his heart it is doubtful if he would have survived.
