I have found anosognosia, which is similar, but it involves specifically the lack of self-awareness towards one's disabilities or disorders. I am looking for a term which would describe a more general lack of self-awareness, specifically as a product of brain injury.

My 7 1/2 yr old daughter is 3'6", 34 lbs, and wears 24M/2T/3T clothes still. Her bone scan shows her at least 3 to 4 years behind her age. The endocrenologist we're working with is testing her for Growth Hormone Difficency, but I'm not sure sure that is the problem. Besides that fact she is bottomed out on both height/weight charts, she also has a very high pitched voice, her adult teeth have grown in quite spaced apart and her gums are slightly rounded and discoloured, and she has dark patches of skin on various parts of her body. I have thought maybe it was Turner's or something like it, but her intelligence is above average (she's being tested for Gifted Programme even) and she eats like a horse, which isn't usual in any of the other illnesses. Has anyone else come across a case like this? I keep trying to tell the doctor I'm not sure it's GHD but he doesn't want to discuss it with me at all. Any advice as to what may be her problem and where I can take her please? Thanks!

i have shoulder tendonitis and i take 3 advil a day before baseball practice so i can play through the pain everyday. Today i woke up and my stomach is hurting. I think its cuz of advil, but 3 a day is less than the advised amount. I'm wondering if this is just temporary and if taking 3 advil a day is too much. Ive been doing that for aobut a month.

My boyfriends son is 13 years old. He is complaining of headches, eye pain, blurred vision. He says he gets pain in front and over his eyes. He had an eye exam in Aug. or Sept.
It came back ok, and he was given glasses for reading. What type of doctor should we take him too? I was thinking a neurologist. What type of problem can he have? I know you always think the worse like brain tumor, or cancer so I don't want to jump the gun either. He has suffered from headaches for a very long time, and now is having vision problems too!
His headaches are not everyday, but, they are painful.
Thanks for any advise.

There are thousands of coma patients worldwide and the info that Ambien or other-named sleeping pill DO wake some coma patients up, must have been spread.....so why arent newly awkened victims coming to light? Why isnt it presribed to every single coma patient on earth just in case? If it is...why isnt it reported or documented for the general public?

I dont get why we only heard of the miracle (ok joining of axioms or electrical impulses in the brain) for such a short time but why every single case wasnt reported upon. For each family...the good or bad facts would be major...so why the silence?

Please dont answer if you dont know...but any scientist, healthworker or FDA person....SPEAK UP because Im at a loss as to why such an important study isnt accessible on the net. Its not that new...and its infuriating that there seem to be no statistics or proper worldwide investigation. Surely no-one would leave any person in a flux if the cure was a pill away?

I am having gall bladder surgery at the end of this month, it is not the open surgery, but the 4 small cuts in the abodomen. I would like to know how long it takes to get back to work. I don't have a hard job, but may require standing for 2hrs at a time. How long should I be prepared to be out of work for, if anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it.

I was wondering if this has happened to any of you...

I went to the dentist the other day and got a cavity filled. Of course, they used a needle to numb my gums and stuff.

Well, when some girl was cleaning up after I left, she got stuck on my needle that they used.

So, this girl is freaking out and stuff thinking she has hepititus or AIDs and asked me to get a bloodtest. I agreed, like anyone would.

When I was told this, I couldn't stop laughing from the fact that someone thought they were going to die from being stuck with my needle.

I mean, C'mon! I'm only 13. Last time I checked, it's not often that people my age have stuff like this, but anyway. I go to get tested today.

Has anything like this happened to you?
Has someone been stuck on your needle?
Have you been stuck on someone else's?
Reactions?

Do share.
I love hearing you guy's opinions, thoughts, and stories.

if you have 'anything' or know of someone that has a contractable disease, or even a possibility of one.
do ,then, before they start a realationsip with someone get tested and show the person that they are planing on having said relationship with the tests?
i would think that they would want to provide any information that they could about their condition.
especially to one they plan on having a physical relationship with.
is that not important to the people with said condition? and is it wrong of prospective date to demand answers before they enter relationship?

i hope you can find the questions in there.
i guess what it all comes down to is if i had someting that could, even slightly, make a person ill, i would want to set their mind at ease. wouldn't you?

It seems to me that everyday there is a new drug which comes out hailed as having great potential yet when you check around there seem to be few diseases which have been cured by any drugs. The headache is still around. High cholesterol still exists. People still have heart attacks. Cancer is as bad as ever. People still lose their hair as they get older. Gout and arthritis are still around. Epilepsy is still here. Alzheimers etc etc.

I'll go even further than drugs. look into treatments in general. Teeth whitening doesn't work that well. Skin creams haven't helped the people I know. Smokers still have a hard time quitting. Fat people try everything to lose but they have yet to find a solution as far as I know.

And thousands of billions of dollars have been poured into solving all these problems. In the end the consumers would have been better off spending their money on something better.

Any thoughts on this reality?
