what does constipation feel like if its bad? I never had it but after my daughter was born i have everyonce in awhile get cramps in my abdomen and it feels as if its bloated or blocked.(mostly on my sides directly under my rib cages. I went to docs and they said all was fine not blockage or anything. It can last from a couple hours to on and off for a week or more. what could this be>? I also get pretty bad indigestion during this time.HELP

I also sort of feel pressure in my hips

I've heard that if it's bad you can feel the bowel obstruction through your tummy(like a hardness). I'm not sure if this works so well for adults though.

One easy way to fix constipation is to eat more whole wheats and more fruits and veggies. This will keep things moving along because they have more fiber. Just add in more of it a little at a time or a small fiber supplement. If you have loose bowel at first just lower the amount of fiber by a little bit and wait it out. It takes a little bit for the body to readjust to eating right.

This is easy, just whole wheat or multigrain bread instead of white, and wholewheat or multigrain pasta instead of regular pasta. One to 2 fruits a day, which will also help vitamin intake, and a few servings of veggies(like at dinner).

I hope my humble advice will be of some help. But also, if you are unsure of your condition altogether and feel your doctor has ignored you, go back and explain it again the next time you get it.

sometimes it feels like your entire intestine is packed.... terrible pain. Right under your rib cage is your stomach, but I think you're still just constipated. I'd eat only fruit until you feel better....Think about it ...if nothing's leaving then where's the food going? Get a bunch of apples and grapes.
