One of my customers had it and was back in to visit us the following day. He had a little pain, but otherwise, was fine.

I had emergency gall bladder surgery and I was back to work in 3 1/2 weeks--light duty. I had trouble with the staples that they used so my word of advice it to make sure you keep them very clean!! I thought I was but they still got infected and left a bit bigger scar as a result. I felt great after surgery and have had no side effects since. Hope this helps

my wife just had this surgery done, unexpectingly, in January ...less than 3 weeks from our wedding.
She went into the ER Tuesday morning at 12:30am, once they pinpointed the problem immediately, and was in surgery a little after Noon. Left the hospital the next morning. Doctor cleared her to return to week at the follow-up she had had a the following Tuesday. Back to work on Wednesday...
So about a week--if and a BIG if--there are no complications (which there wont be).
Oh and by the way my wife is a teacher.
Any questions feel free to ask!

I just had this surgery on Wednesday March 7, 2007. I use anything from wrenches to jackhammers, and the doctor told me that if i had an office job with no physical labor involved, I could go back to work the following Monday, but with my job, I will be out for 2 weeks. It's Sunday March 11, now and I feel great, no pain, and all systems go!

This is a question for your doctor. In my experience, I also had a standing-up/walking job and went back to work after 4 weeks. It depends on your age and general health, though. I was 30 and had been pretty ill from the gall bladder disease.

I had gall bladder surgery just like yours. What you need to do is before you have surgery, is to make sure that you are very strong and keep telling yourself that , "You are Straon." It usually takes between 2 and 3 days to start feeling better. Right after surgery, you should get up out of bed and start walking. Walking helps your body get rid of the residuals of anesthesia. You will do great!

HI. I had my GB removed this past Wednesday (March 7th). Well, I still feel lousy. Not standing up straight. Don't even think about caughing or sneezing! Honestly, I think alot depends on your surgeon and how gentle he/she is. I have had laproscopic surgery before and this is the worst! I won't be going back to work for a couple weeks easy! I found out a resident helped to do mine...I think a rough resident. I would say 2-3 weeks out is safe. But I would also ask surgeon to be gentle. That really makes a huge difference.

ask your Dr. i would think right after the surgery you will need to stay home 2-4 days then lite duty for 3-4 weeks
most of the time gall bladder surgery is outpatient surgery and you go home the same day
