First I would like to say what a wonderful gift you gave your brother. I also received a kidney from my mom 10/2004(thank you mommies). She was never a heavy drinker but does like to social now and then and the doctors have always told her in moderation. Not something you would want to do every night. When it comes to cholesterol well for your body as a whole you want to keep this under control as the cholesterol cause the plaque build up/calcification which can clog your vascular system up and your kidney is connected through this system. Of course we don't want to smoke or play football :) all contact sports should be avoided or played with caution but, we know accidents happen. Drink lots of water and stay away from fried food. If it taste like card board eat it...lol they say its healthy if it don't taste good..

When you have only 1 kidney in your body, it is best to not consume any alcohol or high cholesterol food because of the increase in health risks.
