I know that some people are going to say that I should get medical advice......I know that......so please don't say it....

Ok, so here's the deal,

We just checked my grans blood pressure and it came up to be 185 / 91.....please advise if this is very bad and we should go to the doctor now or can we wait till tomorrow...? :-S
She is visiting us (in another country) and under treatment already (tablets).

I would very much appreciate if someone could advise me on this situation and answer seriously...

Thanks very much
:-)

To be honest no one (even a doctor) can give you a 100% guaranteed advice without seeing your gran.
In general if a person is not having any symptoms, there is no need to get panicked.
If she is already under treatment for hypertension, its more likely that this high BP is a chronic problem so though her treatment needs an expert review but I dont think its very urgent.

Also its not desirable to decrease the BP of a person suddenly, if their BP is chronically elevated. It can cause more harm than benefit.
sudden increase/decrease of BP is immediately harmful.

Usual symptoms of severe hypertension:
-headache, confusion, blurred vision, fits, coma, chest pain, nose-bleed, ear noise/buzzing etc.

If she has any of these symptoms then she must be seen by a doctor immediately.
Well its not a bad idea to repeat the BP.

Hope it was useful.

I don't really know, but consider calling your doctor and asking, advice is free usually. He'll tell you how severe it is, even the nurse should be able to tell you.

Good luck.
