I came home drunk last nite and decided i would put my pet snake in my mouth whilst i went on facebook. Now my lower gums have on all mushy, red and inflamed and I have ulcers. My mouth is all dry no matter what i drink and my whole lower jaw is sore. What have i done? Was this a bad idea. It is a Sinaloan Milk Snake and is about 18" long. :(

I has had problems with my jaw since I was a child but it has become much more severe lately. I got a cavity drilled last year during which my dentist cracked my left molar. Ever since then, I have been compensating by chewing everything on the right side of my mouth. I was waking up every morning with my jaw locked for a couple of hours and eventually it would go back to normal.
I finally went back to him and begged him to do something has it was starting to hurt really bad. He ground my tooth to the gums and filled it...it still hurts though two weeks later and I have to take 3 Ibuprofen every 6 hours and 2 Tylenol PM to get to sleep. The final straw is this weekend... my jaw has been locked since I woke up on Friday morning and it has not come unlocked once! I can open my mouth just enough to fit a piece of bread.
I have been wearing a mouthgaurd and doing some exercises my dentist told me to do but they just seem to be making it worse! I heard they can do surgery or even braces?

My wisdom teeth recently emerged a few days ago. Would it be a problem if I keep it? If so, how soon should I get it removed?

So I want to be a dentist and I have always wanted to be one, but I am afraid if I become a dentist and open up my practice no one will come to mine since there are so many dentists. So is this a good profession or am i just worrying about nothing? Will people come to me or will I just be bored in my office all day?

Ok, so "school" didn't ruin my teeth but I did. I went to University for 6 years and got 2 degrees. I studied A LOT and as a result got top marks in both colleges and have teeth that I'm not happy about anymore.

So how does all this make bad teeth? Well I had this habit of drinking pop all the time to keep me awake and while I was studying. The dentist I went to for those years never said anything to me but marked down on my file that my enamel was eroding away. When I got a job and switched dentists he looked at my file and was curious as to why my teeth had been eroding and I did nothing to prevent it. I told him this was the first I had heard about it and now I'm upset.

There is little enamel on the molars in the back and along some of the sides of the teeth. The front teeth are fine thank God so when I smile it looks normal. If you look inside at the back they just appear slightly yellow but this is the color of the underlying dentin.

I am a 20-year-old male and, due to a number of reasons including previous drug use, my teeth are in pretty bad condition. I have been off drugs for two years now and I'm gradually re-building my life. However, I really need to get my teeth sorted but because of the sheer extent of my tooth decay, I am really embarrassed about going to see a dentist. My teeth are in really bad condition for someone my age and I am terrified at being judged or humiliated by a dentist. They are so bad that they almost certainly need extracted and replaced by dentures (especially the front ones).

So I guess I'm wondering if any of you guys can give me some encouragement to go and get it done. My appointment is next week and I am literally terrified. I know that this will benefit me in the long run and that I'll finally be able to smile and speak confidently without embarassment but I'm just very, very scared about going. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hello. I had an apiectomy performed on a large fron tooth last December. To make a long story short, the specialist declared the procedure a failure. The tooth is mobile and has pain from time to time.
He says I am a candidate for an implant. Cost $2400!
If I have this done, will the implant work? At the time of extraction, will I leave the office with some type of temporary tooth? Please help. Thanks. I have asked the dentist for a discount in light of the failed apio. I am waiting for his response. Thanks.

My son's ortho won't put braces on him because he doesn't brush well enough. He's a junior in HS and making no effort to better brush, except for his girlfriend, who thinks he doesn't need braces.

How do I convince him to get the braces pronto so they'll be off before his senior pictures?

Or, should I wait and let him wear braces in college?

I had my 2 right wisdom teeth (upper/lower) removed last Friday the 5th of October. I was not put under anesthesia, just a local anesthetic was used. I still cannot open my mouth all the way and I was wondering if this is normal.
I'm asking here for other's opinions because I went to a dentist to have it done, which I'm now regretting.
As for the amount I can open it- I can't even open my mouth wide enough to eat a donut. I guess it's about an inch.
thanks.

I have going to a dental college for evaluation for crowding teeth. Everytime I would visit the dentist, they would take my blood pressure and everytime it would read high. So they suggest I see a doctor, wherein it was confirmed that my blood pressure was high. I have been put in medication to bring it down, and it does go down incrementally. But I am anxious for the corrective dental (not only cosmetic, but I have a condition where the jaw bones have been slowly eroding since I was young) surgery. How does hypertension affect my health in prepartion for surgery?

I think he called them. Do U think it's possible the former dentist was thinking w/ his pocketbook or do you think they just have different opinions. I'm going to ask him but I wanted some objectivity on here first :) Thanks. I'm aware that if U can't see my teeth you can't specifically answer the question...This question is based more on what the probability of the dentist's possible greed playing a part in this may be in your experiences. Thanks!.. His office is the Taj Mahal by the way although I know it's not fair to judge him by that!
