My son's ortho won't put braces on him because he doesn't brush well enough. He's a junior in HS and making no effort to better brush, except for his girlfriend, who thinks he doesn't need braces.
How do I convince him to get the braces pronto so they'll be off before his senior pictures?
Or, should I wait and let him wear braces in college?

HAVING A JUNIOR NOT BRUSH HIS TEETH IS NOT TERRIBLY UNUSUAL.
I UNDERSTAND THE DENTIST'S OBJECTIONS VERY WELL. YOUR SON HAS 2 CHOICES.
#1=BRUSH TWICE A DAY FOR AT LEAST 2 MINUTES TO GET THE INFLAMMATION DOWN OR
#2=WAIT UNTIL HE'S MATURE TO UNDERSTAND THE IMPORTANCE OF GOOD ORAL HEALTH. IF HE MUST WAIT FOR COLLEGE THEN THE CHOICE IS HIS.

If doesn't brush there's no need for braces, hell make his teeth spotted very bad, then you'll have another problem. Most orthodontist charge if you have braces and come to an appointment and have not brushed.

Just wait its his decision, if you stop telling him to do something, then he will probably want to do it. I am in high school and just got my braces put on....but if my mom would have told me to, i never would have....That just how some teenagers are. Just leave him for a while, his girlfriend will help too dont worry.

what i tell my daughter if she doesnt brush well is that im going to start going in and brushing her teeth for her and she gets really upset but your right i think he should get it over with he will be glad he wore them and got it over with before his college

show him these pictures of people who dont brush...... What girl is gonna wanna kiss him with a mouth like these..... and i cant imagine how bad it must hurt.......

If he wont care for his teeth braces are a waste.... He will be wearing dentures before he is 35 !!!!!! My brother is 38 and his mouth is gross he doesnt like to care for his teeth !!!
