Okay, I'm 20 years old, and I have never been to the dentist. My parents never had the money to take me...or the care enough, anyway. So, the only time my teeth were ever looked at professionally was when dental people would come to the elementary school and clean the student's teeth. I didn't have any cavities then, and I still don't...at least not that I know of. But I konw that my teeth really need to be cleaned. Along the bottom four teeth, I have a real dark color on the backside of them. My teeth aren't gapped or yellow...but this dark color on the back side of the bottom four really grosses me out. I plan on going to the dentist within the next couple of weeks, but I wanted to know if anybody else has experienced this...and if it will EVER go away??

I have a gap between my two front teeth, when I close my teeth together none of my teeth match up, and the bottom row front teeth are slightly pushed back. I really want to get braces that are as unvisible as possible. From what I've read, Invisalign seems like a huge hassle, especially the slurred speech part; so I'll more than likely choose braces. Im in college and work, so I MUST avoid a metal mouth. ANY INPUT IS GREATLY APPRECIATED.

I'm 19 and got my braces off in may of 2002 (about 5 years ago) and was wondering if anyone else still wears their retainers this long after getting their braces off? I had braces for 2 years. Thanks.

I will be rinsing with bottled water (my tap water is gross) .. if I keep it room temp, is that ok, or is there a benefit to having "warm" water? I'd rather not nuke my water and risk making it too hot.

I want to go out with my friends tonight and drink a little but my mom just told me I have a dentist appointment tomorrow morning. I know it takes awhile for alcohol to get out of your system, do you think the dentist will be able to smell it on my breath? If so, what can I do -mouthwash?

my wife had had root canal work done long ago on her 6 upper front teeth. Apparently, the root canal work was not done all the way to the tip. Partial fills. The way It was explained to me is that the bone surrounding the roots has an active infection. They are planning to do an apicoectomy. They open the gum tissue near the teeth to expose the underlying bone and to remove any inflamed or infected tissue. the very end of the roots are also removed. A small filling may be placed to seal the end of the root canal. They then explained that they put a substance in the hole where the infected bone was removed. This substance acts as a catalyst for bone growth to fill the hole. Sorry if this isn't too technical, but the booklet and paperwork don't give too many specifics about this portion of the treatment. There is something called a "Retrograde Fill", "Bone replacement graft", and of course, the "Apicoectome-anterior". They said that they would start her on an antibiotic as well.

I think it may be hard to keep clean. Im worried that now that I have tooth 29 about to be extracted that adding a bridge will be much harder to take care of. Tooth 28, 29, 30 all have or had crowns. 29 needed a root canal retreat. Now the dr wants to pull it out since there isnt much tooth left. I get cleanings I brush and floss but keep having issues with my teeth.. with all the trouble im afraid a bridge will be alot of trouble and need help in knowing what is the best way to take care of it and what can i expect?

My daughter just came from the dentist and has 5 cavities. 2 had to get temerary fillings right away. I couldnt figure it out because my daughter eats healthy foods, sure she has a few sweet snacks from time to time. she has been brushing since shes had teeth. and shes only 4 years old.
I talked to my mother in law and she said that my husband had horrible baby teeth and had to get a ton of work done when he was very small but his adult teeth came in nice. Is there a hereditary problem???

I'm getting my top two wisdom teeth removed tomorrow with IV sedation. How do you feel when you wake up? I've had IV sedation once before, but don't remember a lot. I've also had general anesth several times, and waking up was horrible. I tend to take several hours to come out of it. I'm not worried about the pain from the extraction, I'm more worried about waking up feeling disoriented and scared. Anybody have good experiences with waking up?

i had a root canal done about 2 months ago on a back molar. it has been crowned. i am having pain (not severe) that feels like it is under the tooth. i have also noticed that around the gumline (closest side to cheek) of the tooth, if i touch it it hurts and its sensitive. i am wondering if this tooth can be saved? a friend told me to see about getting an apicoectomy on it. is there a dentist here who can tell me what to have the tooth checked for? the dentist who did the root canal is one i would rather not go back to...

I understand a root canal has 2 parts. The Part A where they extract the nerve and Part B the Post & Crown. They have already extracted the nerve, so Part B should be relatively painless, right? since they are cementing the post to what is left of my tooth. I am petrified of the dentist and I wanna know if the worst is yet to come.
