I was looking at my repositioned tooth and measured how much tooth would need to be filed down to look even wit the other front tooth and its about a 16th of an inch...not much in my eyes. Is that too much for any patient? or does it depend on the patients tooth and how much layer the patient has to file down? also, to any dentist, have you filed this much down before or known someone who has?

I had a filling placed on the backside of tooth #7 due to a small cavity on Jan 24 and that tooth is still bothering me now, sensations in my front teeth and aches/pains daily and I feel it when I bend over, chew gum, etc... But the pain I feel is on the other side of the tooth when I floss it felt sharp like he filled in the whole bottom part of the tooth that touches the gum. I'm using sensodyne and Gel-Kam. This tooth isn't sensitive to hot or cold but my dentist told me that after a filling is placed the pulp may become bruised, to give it time to calm down or it will need a root canal. It did seem better until today when I got my teeth cleaned and now its worse, the back of the tooth and in between where the tooth was filled does feel wierd to me but I have never had fillings before. What could be causing this pain and discomfort? When you have a root canal on a front tooth does it require a crown? What kind of crown? How much do they cost? I'm already out of benefits for the year

My son had some trauma to his two front teeth. They are discolored (bruising) and the dentist said that if they are in danger of "dying" a root canal may be able to salvage them. Of course this involves sedation.

I don't want to hurt his feelings but I deal with him every day at work and he is the type that's an "up close" talker. And it's actually gagging, I find myself wondering if he notices the fact that I'm yucked out and backing away? Thanks.

Dentist seem a lot less grueling and it is not as stressful having to be in control of people's lives but I have a problem.

I brush my teeth twice a day but some of my teeth are crooked and my mom is way too poor to afford braces for me. I wanted to know if it will be a determing factor in my carreer?

Is it like one of those come as you are things that they say to you in church? You can come as you are but if you dress as you are people start looking at you funny even though it says come as you are?

I don't want to be a dentist with crooked teeth. It would be like being a breast implant surgeon with flat breast or a very overwieght gym coach.

Should I try and get braces or can I wait till later to do all of that in college?

My bottom canine teeth areslightly turned about 20 degrees towards the outside of my mouth. There are also a few gaps between my top canine teeth and the ones next to it.

Will this create a problem for me becoming a dentist?

I want to buy one on ebay but can't for the life of me find out what they're called. I'm talking about the basic, hundred-year-old dentistry tool that's just a thin metal shaft, slightly thinner than a pencil, with two hooked metal scrapers, one at each end. What is the name of this tool?

I had braces when I was 9-12 for only my toplayer teeth. I was given a retainer and stopped wearing it after one month. I am 16 now, and I realize that my front two teeth are shifting apart. It isn't really noticeable but I begin to see a little gap between the two (I can feel a gap difference when I floss my teeth, as well). What can I do now to fix this? Is there a way I can go to new orthodontist and get a retainer to help; will this even help? Also, at what age do all my teeth come out and "stabalize" or stop growing?

I asked twice before with long descriptions of the procedure. If you are familiar with this, my question is: Is it considered a medical necessity to have this done? My dental insurance only covers $1000 and the procedure is supposed to be $8000. She needs it done on the 6 upper front teeth. I am hoping that my health insurance plan will cover it. She has an active infection in the bone and I feel that it is medically necessary to have this done. What are your feelings on this? I am not interested in an answer from "Biologic Dental Consultant" thank you.
