i might be going in for operation in a few weeks because of my jaw, i've never been operated on. is there anything i should look out for? is it the same thing as sleeping when i'm unconscious during the operation? what happens after the operation?

They will use anesthesia, it will put you to sleep, you probably won't even remember going to sleep. When you wake up you probably won't feel much, be groggy and possibly nausea's. Good things to ask are how long the operation should take, and how to take care of your jaw once you are back home.

i had never been operated on either and i went today for my wisdom teeth and it was a breeze! they gave me a small shot and i closed my eyes and opened them, and it was done! i just had puffy, numb cheeks and gauze in my mouth and was really tired....no pain though...i had a really good oral surgeon, i hope you have a good surgeon too! you should ask for them to give you pain medication before-hand if it is going to take less than 2 hrs...and you should have the medication ready
