Well, getting a cavity drilled takes longer and you feel pain longer than when a tooth is pulled. I guess it depends on the person. Also, you have to consider how many shots you need for something, because those hurt too. AND getting a tooth pulled is kind of a quick pain and getting a cavity drilled is more of a deep ache.

Depends on the meds. Novacain to pull a tooth is ok..but the knockout gas and pain killers that come with the pulled tooth make it much more enjoyable than a drilled cavity.

I would rather have my tooth pulled than drilled, but it's a different kind of pain. Drilling give me the willies and I ask for laughing gas if possible. When they pull a tooth they usually put you under, and it will hurt later. Drilling only hurts when they're doing it, and it might not hurt at all if they don't go too deep.

I had my wisdom teeth out and they gave me laughing gas. I didn't mind at the time even though they had a hard time getting them out because I have a small mouth, but later it ached and my jaw was swollen a bit. When I get my teeth drilled it doesn't usually hurt, and it definitely doesn't hurt when they stop. But the pain is very sharp when it does hurt. I think it's also a psychological reaction to drilling, I get stressed out just thinking about it.

I've had neither, (yet) but I know one thing. When you get a tooth pulled, usually they numb it with some kind of anesthesia, so you only feel a tug. I don't even want to think about getting a cavity drilled!
