Okay, I'm 20 years old, and I have never been to the dentist. My parents never had the money to take me...or the care enough, anyway. So, the only time my teeth were ever looked at professionally was when dental people would come to the elementary school and clean the student's teeth. I didn't have any cavities then, and I still don't...at least not that I know of. But I konw that my teeth really need to be cleaned. Along the bottom four teeth, I have a real dark color on the backside of them. My teeth aren't gapped or yellow...but this dark color on the back side of the bottom four really grosses me out. I plan on going to the dentist within the next couple of weeks, but I wanted to know if anybody else has experienced this...and if it will EVER go away??

That location is a favorite place for tartar to accumulate and it can be discolored from stuff you eat or drink. It is cleaned off easily. You should really see a dentist for an exam and teeth cleaning avout every 6 months or so. Good Luck....you will be fine.

Dark colored stains on your teeth are often caused by the foods you eat or what you drink. Coffee is a big one that discolors. Another thing that causes dark stains is taking tetracycline in childhood. No amount of cleaning will remove that stain - what WILL help is everyday use of fluoride. You can try using Act (a kids' rinse) daily.

Don't be afraid to go to the dentist. They're not evil. The cleaning will help, but it probably won't eliminate the stains.

Probably just tarter build up on back of teeth. You need to be sure to brush the back of you teeth as well as the front. This can be fixed with a good dental cleaning by your dentist.
Dark lines on the front of you teeth could be the result of your gums receding.

I have not had that before but I think it is something that a dentist can take care of. Probably just need a good cleaning. DO you smoke? Do you drink coffe? soda? tea? Could be from that.

It sounds to me like you have tarter build up and that spot is quite common for it. Just go to the dentist and it can easily be removed generally pain free.

I don't think it will ever go away on its own but you can help it along..

You could get professional teeth whitening..

Or I reccomend a 'Re-Mineralization' Mouth rinse..

Do you smoke ? Or drink coffee or tea ? It may be tobacco or be stained from coffee/tea. Otherwise, I'm not sure.
