I've heard from some people that it's actually cheaper to pay out of pocket. Has anyone ever calculated it out and seen if it's worth the money or would it be more cost effective just to pay out of pocket?

I used to not take care of my teeth when I was younger but since I noticed some starting to get pretty wobbly I started to try to do better. It isn't doing any good. My mom took me to a dentist a couple weeks ago but we don't have dental, and it's gonna cost a lot cuz I have alot of cavities. He also said I have a pretty bad case of gum disease for somebody my age and I'll probly be losing some teeth soon. I thought he was just trying to scare me, which he did, but 1 of my front teeth actually came out today. I mean the whole tooth fell right out when I bit into a sandwich. We can't afford those treatments and they aren't even garanteed to work anyways. Can I really lose all of my teeth at my age? I'm freaking out cuz I have a front tooth missing now. I know my teeth looked like crap before, but now I'm losing them. The dentist told my mom when we were there before that the other option was to pull the worst ones and try to save some of the rest. I didn't think he was really serious.

I have an underbite and a crossbite which, according to my dentist and formerly orthodontist, would require an expensive surgery with a painful recuperation. My jaw also pops and naturally shifts slightly when i yawn, etc. They said it would be best to get it while I'm young but after I'm done growing. I think I'm now ready for the surgery but I'm worried about two things. One, how long does it take to recover? And two, what is the likelihood of me being permenantly messed up with TMJ disorder or something?

I went to the dentist recently and he told me that my gums are inflamed but that all I need to do is brush and floss better and they will be fine. I had a cleaning and he took x-rays and everything and thats all that he said. My gums are kinda red, but they don't bleed. However, sometimes it feel like when I put alot of pressure on my teeth and then push them with my tongue it feels like they move, but the movement isn't visible when I look in the mirror. But when I put alot or pressure on them and I look in the mirror, it looks like they move verryy slightly but I cant even tell. Also, theres not really a space between my 2 front teeth but when I push them together I can feel them touch each other then move apart. Is this normal? Is it serious? Wouldn't the dentist have realized if my teeth were loose. Please help because i'm very paranoid and I cant even enjoy things or think about the future because i'm so scared about loosing my teeth

I use a product called "tooth mousse" for my teeth because they need extra attention at present. Anybody else use it and has it helped their teeth?

I am currently whitening my teeth at home using a kit. Can the gel damage my gums? I put a little too much in the tray last nights and now the edges of my gums are white. Is it just a temporary discoloration or did I damage them?

I just had mine out and I'm worried because it seems like the holes at the back of my mouth never closed up. As gross as this sounds, food gets stuck in them and they're kinda sore still. And the bad thing is that I've been busy and haven't been rinsing with hydrogen peroxide. Am I ok?

I graduated from dental assisting school. Did very well. Had a few jobs, wasn't worth the pay the way doc's treated me. Thinking of going into Hygiene, do the doc's have a little more respect for hygienist rather an assistant?
