Contacts cost about $300 for a years supply. Braces depend on what correction is needed. For my kids, the jaw had to be moved while the teeth were aligned, they needed a mouthpiece that they wore before the braces were put in on. The total for the mouthpiece and braces was about $7000, my insurance covered 1/2 and my husbands insurance covered the other 1/2.

Im a Dental Assistant in oklahoma and where I work they cost $4000.00 for a full set(upper and lower) for the silver brackets and $500 extra for the porcelain brackets. With the silver you have less problems. With the porcelain there are problems with chipping and breaking and they are bulky compared to the silver. In some cases DHS(Department of Human Services) will cover the costs depending on the severity of your case for example: Extreme over or under bites, cross bites or severe spacing of teeth. This also depends on if you qualify for DHS. They go by your age and income and you need to check with your local DHS and find out where the closest orthodontist is that excepts DHS.
