I had my wisdom teeth taken out in August 2005 - all four of them.
Two days ago I had a horrible pain (I've still got it) at the bottom right side where the wisdom had been removed. And now it looks like there is another tooth is trying to cut through. There are 4 little points poking through the gum. I got my husband to take a look and he thought I was joking at first. But he looked and he said that there is definately something trying to come through.
If there are any dentisits out there can you please advise what you think it might be? Please nobody tell me to visit the dentist because I can't get in until Wednesday. I just would like some peace of mind in the mean time.
Many thanks.

I went to the dentist today and he said I need to have my 3 remaining wisdom teeth extracted by an oral surgeon because he is afraid to pull them out because they are to close to a nerve that can leave your lip and tongue paralized or numb. He said I have to be put to sleep. I had one of my wisdom teeth pulled out a year ago with just novicaine. I dont understand why he wouldn't pull my others out without having to be put to sleep. Does this sound right???

I'm juts one of the guys who's afraid of having cavities, so, I was wondering, if there is a way to tell if you have them.

I remember the old wives tale of sucking in air, and if there is pain, you have them. Does this still work?

I have been to 3-4 dentists recently (in USA) (for a case other than general cleaning) and all they are interested in doing is to take an x-ray and refer me to someone else who repeats the process. The insurance pays only for 2 visits..and the dentist spends less than 3 minutes with me each time!

One referred me to a specialist because they don't handle root canals..the specialist then to another because they do only root canals and not crowns...it is so frustrating...all are after a hefty co-pay and nothing else? Anybody who can shed light on this?

11/05 lump appears, 12/05 asked dr about it, put on zithromax said tissue infection. 1/06 asked DDS, said gum infection put on EES. 2/06 went back said might be from a tooth wait and see, 4/06 went for cleaning asked again, had different DDS, partner of other one, lump hurts now, said wait and see. 5/06 lump bigger, went to different DDS who said tooth infection and fistula, get root canal. 6/06 got partial root canal done, DDS tried to fill it with temp filling, PAIN, had it removed, tooth wide open on clindamycin for 6 weeks, 8/06 sick cancelled dds, he went on vacation, got in 10/2/06, he put temp filling on it after cleaning it out, on clindamycin now, PAIN again, I want it pulled, they won't saying infection could get in blood system but had it 11 months now, oral surgeon I consulted said he wouldn't remove the fistula either, DDS had to fix it with the canal but canal is filled and done! I still have infection, this is dr, 3 DDs and oral surgeon later, what would you do?

The light needs to point into the mouth and not just be a children's toothbrush with a blinking fun handle. I work as a health care assistant for a young woman who cannot tolerate light in her face. There are dental pen lights, but I can't use those because she also can't tolerate head movement so when I brush her teeth, I must hold her head with my left hand and hold the tooth brush with my right hand. :) Thus, I don't have enough hands to hold a light. I can't wear those dental lights that you put on as a headband because it doesn't focus the light enough and would light up her face and bother her. I need a brush that has a light in it. I have been looking on the internet for FOUR MONTHS. Suggestions are appreciated!! :)Thanks for any suggestions! :)

Recently on 25 Sep 06, i went for a wisdom tooth extraction (bottom left tooth). After 1 or 2 hours, my cheek swell and turns blue black and the pain is excruciating. I could not eat for the next 4 days as i keep biting on the gum. I went back to remove the sticthes and immediately i can bite without hitting the gum. I suspect the stitches was not done properly. But another thing that puzzles me is that now is already 11 days after the dental surgery, i am still having blood in my mouth every morning and i have to spit it out. Worst, the blue black on my cheek turns yellow and this yellow patch is spreading from my cheek to my neck and now to my entire throat and this yellow patch is spreading day by day. I went back to the dentist but she said that although it is not common but it should be fine. Can anyone advice me what should I do and who should I consult?

Help! I had my retainers in my back pocket and now they don't feel right in my mouth. I moved out of state from where I had my braces, which have only been off for 2 months, and the ortho said I would need new impressions here to get a replacement. I don't want to pay here (since i am still paying the other ortho), so can I bend them back myself? How much damage would it do to wear them as they are? Would it be better to not wear them at all?

I think the positioning of some of the teeth in the mouth, makes it difficult to get around to it and floss it effectively.

How do you combat this?
