It really depends on the way the tooth is placed, how deep etc. It is a possibility that you will need them but not guaranteed.

OOO that sounds painful, but i'm sure that even if you would need stiches, that it would be for you own good and that you should have no worries!

I had exactly the same thing - it was weird.
No I did not need stictches, and it only took about 5 minutes.
I won;t go into details, but it was straight forward.
