I'm getting my wisdom teeth out tomorrow and I'm sort of afraid of being knocked out and having the IV. I've never even used the laughing gas when getting cavities filled or teeth pulled out so I'm kind of not used to either gas or anesthesia. I was just wondering if using the IV made the procedure a lot easier for anyone else and if it was uncomfortable. I know it'll probably hurt more after the teeth are out but I'm weird and paranoid so I'm more worried about the procedure and anesthesia themselves. :)

My teeth are less then perfect, i know that braces would cost less, but even after their off, I still don't think I would like them. So, are veneers worth getting, even though their so expensive? Does anyone have veneers, and if so, are you happy with them? Pros and cons, please. Thanks.

I was told I could swish salt and water in my mouth a few times a day after the day of my wisdom tooth surgery, however since I have been doing this I have an starting to get an aching pain in my jaw(just like last time when I got dry socket),however not as bad. If I stop doing the swishing and spitting will my ache go away? Meaning maybe I didn't give myself enough time for my gum to clot.

The tooth is almost gone at gum level. Dentist recommends root canal, post and crown. It's a huge filling partially broken. I've heard it said to keep the tooth as long as possible, isn't it time to let it go? I'm 49

I had a very difficult extraction of my lower wisdom tooth by an oral surgeon. The procedure lasted over an hour and consisted of the dentist drilling little pieces of my tooth off to get it out. Since I am 28yrs old the dentist told me the roots were wrapped around my nerve so I may have numbeness, which I do. Has anyone else expereicned this? How long before the sensation came back?

My partner has severe pain in his tooth and on one side of his face. He had a root canal about a month ago and went to his regular dentist with the problem 2 days ago. They did an x-ray and nothing showed up. She re-did a filling & sent him home with some Keflex antibitotic and Viacaden. After he came back Tuesday afternoon his whole left side of his face had swollen where the work was done. He had a fever and severe pain, & also trouble and pain urinating. When our regular doctor was in yesterday, I took him in there he examined him and said he had a bacterial infection & gave him Biaxin (generic) and drew his blood. The blood test came back normal today but his face is still swollen and in pain on the one side and it doesn't look like it has gone down at all despite the antibiotics. A family member who was married to a dentist said the infection could spread to his brain or he might be having kidney failure with the urinating pain issue which panicked me. What can we do now for him?

I speak very little Portuguese and the communication between my dentist and me is marginal. I live in Rio and my dentist has placed high temporary crowns on my 4 lower back molars. 2 on each side. They feel even on each side but they are at least 1mm taller than the teeth in front. I am currently waiting for 3 root canals and she wanted me to try to adapt to the higher level teeth. I apparently grind through all my dental work pretty fast and my lower teeth were actually fitting beneath my front upper teeth. it was giving me a curmudgeonly look and my lower lip appeared to be smaller.
Now I cannot close my teeth and I can only chew on the surfaces of those back teeth. If I can adapt to the higher teeth my facial appearance will be improved but I am wondering about the long term effects on the front bone areas. If those teeth do not feel pressure from the opposing teeth will the bone be harmed or deteriorate?

Do US dentists do this kind of treatment? pros and cons?
thank you

My 2 and a half year old daughter was given an im injection of versed and ketamine together on 4/20/06 in a hospital setting she was going to have 4 teeth removed surgically, the r.n. gave her an injection of these medications she went unresponsive almost immediatly they performed cpr and intubated her and got her breathing again needless to say the procedure was canceled , she still needs to have these teeth removed as soon as possible but they did,nt really explain in her medical records what went wrong that day so i need answers from medical personnel who have dealt with this or a similar situation.

Im getting two wisdom teeth pulled in a few days, my dentist gave me antibiotics a week back to get rid of an infection, it worked very well. i know u are supposed to take the full dose. He prescribed me 15 days worth but i asked him ten days in how much longer i should continue and he said i could stop whenever. Im getting the feeling my dentist is kind of sloppy. when is it safe to stop? is ten days enough? also will i be taking more antibiotics after getting my teeth out?

I had oral cancer and radiation treatment. Recently I saw someone on TV who recommended a tooth paste, only available through a dentist, for patients who had radiation treatment. I thought it was DR. Niessn of Baylord Dental, but I'm not sure and lost the paper I wrote the product name on. Help?
