Y0u need to take the full prescription. When people don't take it all that's how immunity builds up in the viruses so that certain antibiotics don't work anymore. That is why some forms of tuburculosis today do not respond to anibiotics. Do us all a favor and complete your course of treatment.

The reason the dentist gave you antibiotics prior to your extraction is to clean all the bacteria out of your mouth to avoid complications that could occur post- extraction, and to destroy any possible infection that was brewing between now and your appointment.
Because you have not had your teeth out as of yet, the prescription he gave you was preventative. Will he be prescribing antibiotics after your extraction? I should hope so, if he doesn't, I would be very worried. You will have holes in your mouth, and if not taken care of can lead to a serious infection, not to mention a great deal of discomfort for you on top of the pain you will already be feeling.
He really should have told you to continue on the antibiotics until your appointment, the problem with antibiotics is this: people usually start to feel better about 48 hours after first starting treatment, so they decide they feel good enough to stop. The thing is that even though you may be feeling better, chances are that the bacteria has not been entirely eradicated, it might just go dormit. Now the next time you are infectious, that first antibiotic you took won't work, it has become drug resistant., which means you move to what's called " second class" of antibiotics.
So basically, what I am saying in a nutshell is take your medication as the dentist has prescribed, and if you are not sure, speak to your pharmacist.
Good Luck and I hope you don't feel too much pain!

basically you should keep taking the antibiotic for several reasons let me write some of them.
-taking the right prescription make sure all tha bacterias are dead.
-antibiotics don't work fast that you think, take some time to start to work
-if you stop the treadment before was estipulate, you are getting the chance to get the infection back just because the infecction wasn't treated right.
-if you stop the treadment you will have some antibiotic left in the bottle an someone else can take it ( see below concecuences of it)
-when you cut the dose you are expossing the bacteria tothe antibiotic giving then the chance to change and become inmune to the antibiotic.doing this you have the chance to create bacterias recistand to the antibiotic
You dentist just want to make sure to kill all the bacterias.

Depends on the child, how her immune system is, etc, but generally you should see an improvement very soon. The important thing, and this is vital, that you always finish the course the doctor proscribed. The whole bottle must be finished. If the label states take 3 times a day, do this until the entire bottle is finished. Even if she seems so much better. The proscription takes into account the germ, the age of your daughter, her approximate weight. The bacteria will come back if the entire dose isn't finished. This is why so many young children develop secondary illnesses, like a chest infection, ear infections, kidney infections, because parents feel safe when their child is showing a great improvement. Don't be fooled by her recovery, finish giving her the amount in the bottle.

antibiotics kill all cells including good ones. they should not be taken for more than a week. you need to build a healthy immune system with healthy, natural, high fiber, nutrient dense foods. there is natural antibiotic foods such as shiitake mushrooms, etc. read up on natual remedies from a health food store. since the doctor prescribed two weeks worth, you should take the full two weeks. you probably have a bad infection that requires a lot of antibiotics and if you don't kill it all, the infection will become immune to the medicine and will create a worse infection in the future. finish all medicines doctors prescribe but work on building a healthy immune system.

for a normal taking of antibiotics, just to be sure that the antiboitics will work in your body, is nine days. but sometimes it depends, if you have a major surgery, well the person should take more than nine days...with your case, if you're feeling better already, then you can stop taking antibiotics...

Usually 7 to 14 days, but always use the ENTIRE perscription up. That means take all the pills in the bottle until they are gone and take them as directed.
Sound like you are taking someone elses pills !!!!!!
GO TO THE DOCTOR FOR YOURSELF !!!
