I have had many, many procedures on my teeth and I wouldn't do it any other way. I'd take that over novacaine or laughing gas any day. When they use an IV it's a sedation and it's very light so you snap out of it very quickly as compared to true anesthesia. I say enjoy every minute of it...it's like going on a vacation and being totally relaxed and next thing you know it's all done and you're home.

I have an insane fear of loosing my teeth, when I got my wisdom teeth pulled they ran out of the knock out stuff. They gave me a really high dose of laughing gas and I don't remember anything. They said I was talking when I went out and when they took the mask off I started right back up, like nothing happened. I didn't feel sick or anything and I was able to walk out 10 minutes after I was done.

I'm a dentist.
"Easier" is a very subjective term. I perform surgical extractions of wisdom teeth very frequently, yet I do not sedate patients.
For some, dental work is a very atraumatic experience. They can tolerate the pushing and the funny noises of extracting wisdom teeth, and thus, for them, the hassle of being sedated makes the process more difficult.
For others, however, sedation is absolutely necessary. They are jittery, apprehensive, and unlikely to tolerate the procedure while fully conscious.

I've been "Knocked out" as you say, many times. Including when I had my wisdom teeth out. It's called general anesthesia. It's over before you know it. The only drawback I can think of is that sometimes I feel really nauseous when I first come out of it, but it usually eases pretty quickly. I think you'll do fine, and you'll feel better in no time. Good luck!

It does make it easier for everyone. You'll go to sleep and wake up a (seeming) millisecond later with the teeth gone.
You'll be groggy, disoriented and out of sorts for a few hours. Be sure to have someone drive you home. Drink a lot of liquids to help eliminate the medicine.

Yes i was knocked out to have them pulled and i was glad of it. Yes you do feel sleepy afterwards and you will be sleepy for a while and you'll be numb but they will give you some pain meds that will help and plus take mortin that helps along with the painkillers.
I have been knocked out so many times having major surgery and i always woke up. Don't be scared!!! They will give you a sedative and valium. You will be calm.
Good luck and take your pain meds

I would go with the IV if it was me. I have had wisdom teeth out and even after they injected as much novicane as they legally could, I still felt the teeth come out.
