Health - 8 March 2007

The State of California is outlawing smoking at State Psychiatric Hospitals. Patients at those hospitals feel this new law is ill considered. I work at such and institution and in discussion with patients they have raised concerns about the effects of the ban on their rights and their mental health.

I am also curious if there is research supporting symptom reduction availible on the web.

every so often i get dry heaves and start gagging for no reason what so ever. i feels like i'm going to PUKE, neasous - but i don't and after awhile i calm down and it goes away...what could be causing this?

I am a borderline diabetic, high blood pressure (with 1 pill a day but this start even before i was on this med)

I have been under a lot of stress lately, yesterday I had an espresso & about an hour later, my chest got tight, sore, I couldn't get a deep breath in, my left arm went cold & numb, I felt dizzy & almost passed out. I was ready to call 911, but after taking some tylenol, the symptoms began to subside. I'm a little better today & have an appt with my Dr.

when i contracted herpes, the doctor told me it would likely be my only outbreak. it's now been three years and thus far the doctor was right. i've had no other outbreaks. any ideas why she would say that? are there certain types of herpes that have less frequent outbreaks than others? at the time of my outbreak i was too shocked to ask the proper questions of my doctor. now, she's not my doctor anymore. when i tried to ask the new doctor, they were dismissive, which pissed me off, so i just didn't inquire beyond my first question.

Ok I know for a fact that antibiotics greatly reduce the effectiveness of birth control...cause it happened to my sister...

All my doc has ever told me was about the antibiotics but are there any other meds (prescription & non) that do also? I've been battling with a cold/sinuses/allergies all week & have been taking either Claritin or Sudafed. Do those affect it at all?

I'm always extra careful but I just want to make double sure just so that I'm more informed......

i had a physical last week and was told before i left that i had bacterial vaginosis and was contacted today saying my test were abnormal and i have chlamydia. please tell me i don't have chlamdia and the test were wrong. my or my husband either has cheated so are there any way he or i had gotten this from something else.

I posted a ? earlier about my 9 year old having a nightmare/halluciantions with snakes and bugs and demons last night and wouldn't go back to bed. (thx for all the answers)

I found out that yesturday at her catholic school they tasted the communion bread for the first time. Several types.

I called her dr. and I am not patiently waiting for his call, obviously.

Is it possible she had a food allergy to the bread? If so what would be the ingrediants so I can talk to her dr and not give her that food again?

about three years ago, i awoke, with a painful swollen bump or lump on my back, it was severly discolored, like a bruise,very purple, with time, it seemed to go away, and i thought nothing of it, that a spider had bitten me, now three years later, it is acting up again, pain as though something has bitten me, and discoloration , it is solid and does not break, nothing oozes from it, but it is painful and discolored, anybody have any ideas what it could be, i am going to go to the er, but i am waiting a few more days, actually i am going to wait about a week, because i have something more urgent, so anyone with any help or ideas about this, much appreciated, thank you ,i am not in the same part of the country, as when it first appeared

The mole is just an itty bitty one and is already partly off from when I shave. If I have to I'll cut it off with fingernail clippers, but I heard that it's dangerous to cut one off on your own. I don't really care if it scars since I don't think anyone will see a 3mm scar on my armpit..

So should I cut it off on my own or get a doctor? Or is there any other way of getting rid of a really bumpy mole without actually cutting it off? I would be fine with it if it wasn't so "tall"

...the Sunday after my period starts. That would be fine if I actually got normal periods. They're normal in the fact that they come ever three months. I just had my last period on Feb. 19. Would it be safe to start now or should I just wait till my next period?
