about three years ago, i awoke, with a painful swollen bump or lump on my back, it was severly discolored, like a bruise,very purple, with time, it seemed to go away, and i thought nothing of it, that a spider had bitten me, now three years later, it is acting up again, pain as though something has bitten me, and discoloration , it is solid and does not break, nothing oozes from it, but it is painful and discolored, anybody have any ideas what it could be, i am going to go to the er, but i am waiting a few more days, actually i am going to wait about a week, because i have something more urgent, so anyone with any help or ideas about this, much appreciated, thank you ,i am not in the same part of the country, as when it first appeared

The ER stands for EMERGENCY ROOM. If it for life or death emergencies, not something that can "wait a week" because you "have something more urgent" to do. You are what is wrong with healthcare today.
Go to a damn walk-in clinic or your family doctor.
As for what it is, it's probably a spider bite. Nothing you're going to die with.

It's probably just a boil. It would look like a giant pimple. Put warm, moist compresses on it, etc. The doctor can take care of it for you pretty quickly.
