Medicaid is for the poor. But alot of people hide income so that they are covered when they shouldnt be. Most of the time is totally free.

Medicare is something you pay into the whole time you work. This is for seniors over 65, disabled people after 2 years of becoming disabled, cancer patients, ect. They have a 20% co-pay and a 98.00 a month premium. Plus a premium for drugs and a co pay on every drug.

Medicaid should be the one with the copays because they could work, people on social security cant, The welfare people on medicaid get free food, low cost housing, utility allowance, medical, some get cash..... and make 2 - 3 times more with the food stamp amount, then the senior does. Major welfare reform is needed.

A mom with 2-3 kids will get 500-600 in food. The welfare mom could be working, after all they will pay her daycare.

The average disabilty income is 500-600. ( total income) Minium housing will cost them 300.00 a month this leaves them with 200-300 left to buy food , and other needs. And they wont give them help with food , if they do its 10.00.

Medicaid is state financed medical care for the poor. (Qualifications vary by state and situation) Medicare is federally financed health insurance for people over age 65, some disabled people, and people with end stage renal failure.

With Medicaid, there is no deductible or copayments; Medicare has both.

Neither pays doctors anything close to what traditional insurances do. (Sometimes, the doctor's costs exceed what Medicaid pays.) So those of you with insurance are paying for Medicare and Medicaid through your taxes, and again with higher insurance premiums, because your fees have to be inflated to cover the underpayment by government programs.

I am on medicaid. I got on it because I applied at the welfare office, which approved me because I am on Social Security. My friend is on medicare. I think he is on a different insurance company because he is on Social Security Disability Benefits. See thats the problem. You have a SSI and you have a SSDI. It is really confusing and one of the things I would do if I could reform SSI administration is that I would change those names. Basically, I think Medicaire is better then Medicaid. This is probably the result of SSDI being better then SSI. SSDI is for like people who have worked their whole lifes and have money tied up in all the social security taxes they pay off. They can make a great deal more a month then people who get SSI. SSI people get their money from their goverment, which can not exceeed about $600 a month.
