I am male and at age 15, I received two injections of testosterone to treat delayed development (I had not started puberty at age 15). Anyway, I was told (at the time) that my height and weight were both below the 3rd percentile for my age group. I am afraid I do not know the exact diagnosis, but I do remember the doctor (an endocrinologist) saying that he believed I had enough testosterone and that it had not “kicked in” yet.
I am wondering if the endocrinologist might have missed something because my height and weight were both below the 3rd percentile for my age group and that seems rather extreme. Yet, I was apparently just a late bloomer.
I mean, if my IQ were below third percentile, they would not be calling me slow; they would be feeding me through a tube. 3rd percentile seems extreme. My guess is that there must be at least one other factor that would explain why I was far below the average height and weight rather than just somewhat below average. Any ideas?
