I am male and at age 15, I received two injections of testosterone to treat delayed development (I had not started puberty at age 15). Anyway, I was told (at the time) that my height and weight were both below the 3rd percentile for my age group. I am afraid I do not know the exact diagnosis, but I do remember the doctor (an endocrinologist) saying that he believed I had enough testosterone and that it had not “kicked in” yet.

I am wondering if the endocrinologist might have missed something because my height and weight were both below the 3rd percentile for my age group and that seems rather extreme. Yet, I was apparently just a late bloomer.

I mean, if my IQ were below third percentile, they would not be calling me slow; they would be feeding me through a tube. 3rd percentile seems extreme. My guess is that there must be at least one other factor that would explain why I was far below the average height and weight rather than just somewhat below average. Any ideas?

The other reason I'm wondering if we missed something is that apparently the treatment is up to six monthly shots and I only received two (despite my height and weight both being so extremely low).

Teh endocrinologist probably did have my human growth hormone level measured. I definitely gave a blood sample at least once.

Actually, I am now 34 years old. I'm looking into my endocrinological past now for gender identity reasons. More info: I was born with the umbilical cord wrapped around my neck. I was not breathing. I had inhaled amniotic fluid and needed to be resuscitated. My circulatory system was "not mature" for the first few days and my breathing was characterized as laborious for the first three days or so. I recovered within a couple of weeks.

If it's relevant, I was oversensitive to sensory stimuli during my infancy (sounds, lights, tactile sensations, even just to waking up).

Now I am 5'4" (at the time of the shots I was 4'8" tall).

We weight at the time of the shots was approx. 85 pounds. Now I weigh 105 pounds.

It is always a good idea to get a second opinion from another doctor. It will ease your mind and help you to know if the other doctor did miss something. You did not mention whether any puberty changes had occured, other than your not getting taller, or no changes in your weight. Sometimes height in a male can occur, and you're only 15, later in suprising spurts.

in case you and her father are small, and her height and weight are rather proportional, then she's doing purely advantageous. All infants are no longer meant to be on the fiftieth percentile. some infants would be small, and others would be enormous (purely like adults). i do no longer understand this tension to get the infants to benefit weight while it variety of feels sparkling that they are meant to be that length. Now, if she has recently dropped lots on the dimensions (say, from fiftieth to 5th), which would be a reason for situation. in any different case, keep feeding her a variety of healthful ingredients (inclusive of sturdy fat for the reason that she does prefer them for innovations develop), and my wager is that she'll be advantageous. in case you do no longer agree alongside with your ped approximately her weight, according to danger you will come across a distinctive surgeon for a 2nd opinion.
