The most common homeopathic remedies, such as eating yogurt and drinking cranberry juice, are not accepted as being effective by most doctors. However, there is anecdotal and semi-scientific evidence supporting these remedies. Regardless, stay hydrated - drink plenty of water, and stay away from caffeine, soft drinks, and partaking of alcohol to excess.

UTI's are often linked to sexual activity. Getting up soon after intercourse and urinating can "flush out" the bacteria before they have a chance to reproduce. If you're sexually active, your partner could be a carrier for the bacteria. If this is the case, your partner probably will not be symptomatic - unless he has an undiagnosed STD, such as chlamydia or gonorrhea. Consider getting tested, just to be sure.

If you cannot control the UTI's by non-pharmaceutical means, your urologist or OB-GYN might put you on a prophylactic antibiotic regimen. This could work, but you open yourself up to other, collateral issues, such as increased likelihood of yeast infections.

Finally, you could have a minor anatomical "defect" (my wife has one), such as your urethra being unusually narrow, or having a "kink" in it. If this is the case, a urologist can correct the situation with an outpatient procedure.

The first thing to do is increase your fluid intake to keep your bacteria diluted. Drink plenty of cranberry juice and take vitamin C. Also when you have a UTI make sure they do a culture and sensitivity to be sure they put you on the right antibiotic for your infection and then be sure they do a repeat urinalysis a day or two after you finish the antibiotic to be sure it took care of the UTI. They may also want to consider putting you on a prophylactic antibiotic to help prevent UTI's.

Change your diet and take a bath in some plain yogurt, it remove the yeast that cause that type of infection.
