This was many years ago. He got the flu really bad. He woke up with chills and couldn’t walk or talk much. Trying to get him well was killing me. I got the medication he needed. But he didn’t want to take it. I made him soup but he didn’t eat for 3 day. Well now hes getting better but the leg is still hot, red and swollen after 8 days. Hes not being urgent about this or concerned and im really worried it could be infected and he might even lose it. His male ego is driving me crazy. Im so pissed I want to walk always but my heart wont let me. He told me his mom never forced him to do anything rudely! We have been dating for 3 months. The way he treated me after I stood beside him while he was sick made me sick. I know the medicating said he would have crazy symptoms and plus he didnt eat. He made me feel like I was pressuring him to take meds when I was thinking about him. Now I dont want to pressure this leg thing and make it into something bigger. His dr wont be available for 2 wks

If his leg is hot, red and swollen and he's had flu like symptoms then he probably has an infection and he certainly needs to go to an urgent care facility or an emergency room NOW. If his leg goes septic then he will lose the leg, have a long hospital stay and possibly die. You can not force him to seek treatment - all you can do is tell him that you think that it's time that he had his leg checked out and you'll go with him to the hospital if he wants you there. You sound like you're really caught up in his drama and it's time for you to back off a little. There are other, less dramatic fish in the sea.

Sorry but don't listen to the people that say "back off" or "stop bugging him" or anything similar. I am a beginning athletic trainer and I am telling you he will not be a happy camper later in life when he has debilitating chronic arthritis. You need to get the swelling out, immediately. If it goes past 2 weeks you are guaranteeing he will have arthritis and longer than a month, the cartilage will be extremely damaged and later in life it will be very painful to walk let alone jog or walk uphill.

you don't say how old he is, but if he is over 18, he is responsible for his own actions. You can voice concern but you're over reacting way too much!!! His mother obviously made him take responsibility for his own health, which is a good thing. I suggest you stop trying to manipulate him and let him take responsibility for himself and his health care. You keep talking about how HE made YOU feel....I'd likely have been rude if you pestered me when I was not feeling well too. Good grief, if he isn't feeling well, ask him if you can do something HE wants you to do...and if he says no, then leave him BE.

Back off. There are always emergency rooms he can get to. Men don't like to admit they're sick or hurting because many view it as a weakness. But if your boyfriend gets sick enough or in a lot of pain, he'll get help. Your nagging isn't going to improve his situation, although I know you mean well.

If its hot and red, Its probably infected. He doesn't have any idea how sick hes going to be when the lymphnodes can't hold that infection back any longer...when that point get there, just haul his dumb A** to the ER...The DR.s there will chew him out enough for him to learn.
