Ok, so my dad is 55, and approx 4 months ago was diagnosed with cancer. He's advanced as if he were to do the surgery, it would remove his voice box and leave him with both a breathing tube and a permanent stomach peg. The last time he had any treatment was 3 weeks ago (he is scheduled to commence proper radiation/chemo on the 5th of december). I guess i'm asking whether or not it is likely he will be ok? I know that after the treatment he will be in remission, but what is the likely outcome. I need to prepare myself, and my family for the most likely outcome :( I know that each situation is different, which is why i'm not relying on statistics, but its seems that everything I read, it is likely the patient may last a few years after the treatment, but the best they can do is slow the cancer down, rather than rid the cancer cells, and leave him in remission. Also - how likely is it that the cancer will spread within the next few weeks??

Much appreciated and thanks

Recently, my doctor reffered me to the local NHS hospital for a tummy tuck. Firstly, this wasnt for vanity purposes completley, although i admitt it was an advantage. The reason i requested the procedure was due to many contributing factors. I had my twin boys at just 15 years old. This in itself left over a stone in excess skin. That was six years ago and in that time my weight increased massivley, from 11 stone to 19 stone! Over the past 2 years tho, i have worked extremley hard to improve my health and weight. Up to date, i have lost 6 stone in this short time. the remaining 2 stone is excess skin. Yet the NHS have refused my application for a tummy tuck, stating that my case is not severe enough. I now look at my body with more disgust than when i was obese. Im lost for ways in which to appeal against this and would be extremley greatful for any help or advice suggested. Thanks in advance.

I was prescribed 10mg a day of Lexapro six months ago and my prescription is about to run out (4 pills left). I don't feel like it helped/affected me at all during the past six months and I don't want to continue taking it. I know going off it cold turkey is bad, so how should I go about weaning myself off of it?

i'm a veteran of the USAF. when i left 2 years ago i was a size 5 and was in tip-top shape. i have been in school recently took the summer/fall semester off so i could stay at home with my 2 babies ( i do plan on returning next semester). my marriage is failing and as soon as our home sells (soon hopefully) i plan on filing for a divorce. we live in the middle of nowhere (a very small texas town) and i have no family or friends around (and trust me i have tried). the reason why i tell you this is because this might have a lot to do with the problem that i am asking all of you.
i am seriosly concerened about my weight. i have gained about 6 since i have been staying home. my eating has been out of control and is getting worse. i take over the counter diet pills cause my dr wouldnt prescribe me any. i get no exercise. i feel exhausted/overwhelmed all the time. has anyone ever oversome this feeling and if so how? please no negative replies. im having a hard enough time dealing with this.

I cannot workout for 6-8 weeks due to surgery. Currently working out 6 times per week. Can I keep weight the same by just watching food choices alone. Do tend to go for cany now knowing that I will be working out. If I give that up and eat healthy for those weeks can I keep the weight loss under control.

ok so lately I've been getting what I THINK is a migraine...im not sure, whats weird is- I know exactly when I'm going to get them. What happens is -

NUMBER1. U know when u look at the sun or a bright light for a while, and then you look somewhere else, u see those spots or blotches hovering around....well when I start getting those I know a "migraine/headache" is coming on.

NUMBER2.I get really really hot and feel like I have a fever, I also feel weak and a need to rest.

NUMBER3. suddenly I start cooling down and am almost cold

NUMBER4. at this point I have to sit or rest. kind of shaky...

It might sound like some really bad disease but I only get these lets say....3 times a month, Since I know when the headaces are going to start, I think I should find a way to stop it even before it starts. no? well anyway I want to know What these headaches/migraine things are called so I can get medicine to treat it.. thx :)

I'm feeling crazy right now. I need to figure out what's wrong with me. I feel depressed. I feel like I have some mental condition, but maybe I don't and Im telling myself that to give myself an excuse for how crappy I am.

I was talking with my mom and she asked me why I don't hang out with anyone. She suggested that I don't feel like I fit in. Which is totally right, but it shouldn't be. I look normal, if not attractive. In fact I see girls checking me out a lot. But I don't feel normal and sometimes when I look into the mirror it's as if that person isn't really me, or im not good enough to be that person. I wonder why anyone really likes me because I see nothing in me.

Maybe I really am depressed. Maybe I just want attention. I really don't know. I shouldn't have any reason for being depressed. I only have one more day of school and then I have a big thanksgiving break. I should be feeling happy.

I have been eating a healthy diet for at least two years now, I have also worked out for a soild 3 years. I belong to a gym, have a personal trainer and work out for 1 & 1/2 hours 3 to 4 days a week without fail, and eat about 1300-1500 cal per day. I am 40yrs old and weigh 160 lbs, I am 5 ft 2, and have weighed approx.130 most of my life. I have been on thyroid meds, and prescriptions for weight loss for many years with no results. I finnally went off them all and tried to just eat healthy and work out hard.
I am unable to even loose a pound.... my trainer thinks I must be overeating, because he sees me at the gym doing my program. I am not eating abnormal, I eat healthy (I have to I have severe acid reflux disease) can't have fatty foods, coffee, chocolate or anything tasty pretty much..... I eat sprouted wheat, fruits, vegetables, little meat, mostly fish, and very low dairy if any. What could be the answer?
I need an answer, this is crazy.

I have been on the depo shot for 2 years and have not had a period in that time. I recently got off of the shot due to excessive weight gain. I had to take a Plan B (emergency contraceptive) recently and since I have had a heavy whitish/yellowish discharge. Is there something wrong? I am married and do not have multiple partners, but, honestly I am unsure about my husband's faithfulness. Please help!
