As we all know, eating meat will kill you. Our digestive track was designed for a vegan diet and we were never meant to eat meat. This has been proven over and over again in scientific studies.

My question is this, can your body ever fully recover from eating meat?

I have a friend who got really sick from eating meat and not eating fresh fruits and vegetables. This friend is currently staying home because he was disabled from a work related injury. I have been entrusted to buy this friend's groceries while his caregiver is away. He has been requesting meat, but I refuse to buy it and I now have him on a vegan diet. Some friends of his tried to sneak him a bucket of chicken from KFC, but luckily I caught them as they were pulling into the drive way and I told them to leave. He claims he doesn't feel good when he doesn't eat meat and now he is saying he is tired because I won't let him eat meat. I informed him that his body is detoxing and that he will have to hang in there.

One of the main arguments about veganism is that they believe humans should not use and exploit animals, be it for food, clothing etc.. They also believe that no animals are higher and lower than each other and humans are just as equal in their right to life as any other animal.

Now, animals don't care about eating other animals. A lot of them do.. they do not question what they eat. Now if animals can go and eat other animals in the wild then how come us a humans, or fellow animals, cannot eat them? After we all we are animals too and therefor since other animals eat meat then how come humans cannot?

I know they are vegetarian, but are they vegan? They often have a warning on their package saying that they are made in a factory that also manufacture milk and egg products, etc. if I'm striving for strict veganism, should i eat this brand?

Besides some Americans who are vegetarians, what other countries/cultures is vegetarianism common in?

I know India is one such country, but are there any others?

My family used to eat hotdogs and sauerkraut for luck. Yuck!

This is my first New Years since becoming vegan. I’m curious as to what you vegetarians or vegans eat for New Years along with any other traditions.

This year I think I’ll eat… collard greens for wealth, black-eyed peas for luck, cornbread because it sounds good, and put on my red underwear for love. :)

...the following doesn't happen to me. I mean how do I know if I'm being a "strict" a vegetarian and causing myself dreadful physical harm. What is the ideal percentage of "white meats" ... seafood, fish, poultry I should be including in my diet to stay healthy.

The vegetarians of Southern India eat a low-calorie diet very high in carbohydrates and low in protein and fat. They have the shortest life span of any society on Earth, and their bodies have an extremely low muscle mass. They are weak and frail and the children clearly exhibit a failure to thrive. Their heart disease rate is double that of the meat eaters in Northern India. HL Abrams. Vegetarianism: An anthropological/nutritional evaluation. Journal of Applied Nutrition, 32:2:53-87.

Are those who cite humans' possession of "cutting teeth" as "evidence" of our species being natural omnivores looking at the same mouth I am? I would love to hear a good argument for humans being natural omnivores, but to bring up the human mouth, which contains FOUR very dull incisors (compared to TWENTY-EIGHT flat teeth) seems counter-productive to their idea.

Any thoughts or insights?

i'm thinking about becoming a vegetarian for animal rights, but not vegan. however, i'd feel like i was doing a disservice by eating animal products like eggs and cheese. but i'm a teenage girl and i think it would be way too hard to do that. is it still good to eat just vegetarian? by not directly supporting murder.

I cannot call myself vegan despite holding some of their views, since I eat meat, fish and eggs.
However I spend a lot of my time thinking about animal welfare and trying to make ethical choices. I only ever buy organic meat. I don't consume milk of any kind as I have strong views on it being unnatural, and unnecessary for my health. In fact it encourages my asthma and hay fever.
I prefer to only eat eggs from a local farm where they keep both hens and cockerels (therefore avoiding the issue which vegans have with eating them). I never eat battery eggs.
I don't eat much meat, but treat it as a luxury and something that has worth. I don't mind paying more, and I prefer local meat, or that which has been hunted- like wild game, as this is more natural and the animal had a good life in the wild.
I think that although humans do not need to eat meat we have evolved to be omnivores, and I enjoy the taste of meat, and feel that if an animal is to be killed for food then that is alright.

I love avocados, and lately, I've been eating one a day. I usually just cut one up and eat it with a sandwich as a side, instead of fries or chips or whatever. And I usually just squirt some lime on there. Great. But what are the benefits of it? And should I stick to one a day, or is it OK to have like...two, or three, or four?

Cause I was ordering fries the other day, and my friend, who knows I'm a vegetarian, told me that they were fried in animal fat and I didn't believe him. Is this true? I always thought they were Vegetable oils.
