I feel so guilty and now I feel like I have to start all over. It's just so hard to go without any flesh for so long. :-(

My mother started this argument with me! She said, sure plants don't feel pain, but what about all the pain from Mexicans that have to pick plant food, they bruise, suffer, heat strokes, bleeding hands, sore backs, etc. Must of these people are forced to stay all day long in the heat. They SUFFER!

So what do you say to my mother?

Aren't plants living things, like animals? And to not use any animal products, doesn't that seem strange since, from the dawn of man, we have been part of the survival / food chain that all animals are part of in order to survive? How is it that suddenly after millions of years it is wrong?? Lets all rip out our Molars and nibble some lettuce and deny what we are- animals.

I can understand becoming a vegetarian for health reasons and becoming a vegan is your own personal choice; but why is PETA trying to convert the whole world? I've seen PETA on cable news channels lying about Jesus being a vegetarian and telling people that beer is better than milk for your bones. PETA also says that humans only ate things like berries in the beginning and only started eating meat because it tastes good. If PETA actually looked at real science, they would know that all apes are naturally omnivores (eat animals and plants). PETA would also know that if people were to become vegans before industrialization and the globalization of the world's economies, they would suffer from protein deficiency. It's not like ancient people had the means to make veggie burgers in factories and could ship soy products across the world. I'm all for the humane treatment of animals and I believe they should only be killed to be eaten. Why doesn't PETA try to stop lions from killing zebras?

York council have decided to ban fois gras, I'm no fan of the French, the BBC have confirmed that they have never forgiven the UK for agincourt, a battle won back in 1415!

I suppose it's similar to Liverpool never forgiving Manchester for building a big canal and taking away their cities tax revenue but I digress.

I believe there can only be so much suffering in the world, extending animal misery alleviates human suffering, it's a theory with holes in it however for a council to decide what it's people can or can't consume is, in my opinion, reprehensible, your views here:

I notice that the Vegans are mostly very young, and are controlling their diet more for fear of weight than anything else.
It makes me think Vegan is just a PC term for bulimia/anorexia.

Americans consume too much protein? Protein has replaced fats and carbohydrates but the calorie levels are the same. That's why obesity is a problem. Cut down on the protein and we will be healthier.

There is a Whole Foods Market not too far from where I live, but unfortunately, it doesn't have vegan or vegetarian substitutes for everything I used to eat when I was a meat eater. For example, it doesn't offer any vegan or vegetarian substitutes for fish or shrimp, so does anyone know where I can order such substitutes online?

I have no idea what these long names actually are. Does anyone know some offhand, which they could list? What, specifically, can a vegetarian/vegan definitely eat, which is processed?

I've been noticing the latter more and more recently and I was wondering why people do that. It's not like it's a "bad" word.

This is a serious question.
