My daughter is having a sleepover/b-day party for her 13th. One of the girls is vegan and I have no idea what that intails? Can she not have any animal byproducts.. dairy etc.. and does anyone have any ideas what to make her so she has snacks too.

I am a vegetarian. I don't eat any meat whatsoever. But, I have been have second thoughts about eating eggs. Ever since I learned about hen reproduction, I havn't been sure if I should eat eggs. The reason being, it is kind of like eating a chicken before it had a chance to be born. Know what I mean? I wanted to see what other vegetarians that eat dairy products think about this.

THANKS!

Well, I did my research and I can now prove he was not a vegetarian. Please see this article here: http://michaelbluejay.com/veg/hitler.html

Meat eaters just say he was a vegetarian so they can try and discredit vegetarians and hide their own guilt about eating meat.

I mean, how can someone feel bad about eating animals, then turn around and go "sure, kill people, they're worth less than that cow with the beefy tastiness"?

For some reason for the past month or so, meat has been a complete turn off. And after hearing about an ecoli outbreak in hamburg patties out here I knew for sure I wouldnt be touching it again. The thought of meat turns my stomach anyway.

Ok, with that said, I need some information. I have Diverticulosis, which means I cannot have rice, nuts and seeds, and unfortunatly when eating veggies I get the tedious job of deseeding everything (tomatoes is such a pain!) but, we do what we do to try and be healthy.

I need to know if you think it would be impossible to be vegan even though I cannot have rice and nuts, you guys eat alot of those two things, dont you?

Also, isnt drinking milk and eating cheese wrong since it comes from a cow?

Any other info you want to add would be wonderful!!

Is it because you are against eating animals, or is it because of all the garbage fed to livestock?

What kinds of meals do you eat? I need help because I refuse to eat meat after the horror Ive read tonight. And I realy dont know what kinds of dishes I could make for a variety.

out a small piece of bread to everyone, and a nice bowl of beef and barley soup. Would you:

A. Refuse both meals because of the fact that they are using animal products in the second meal, and that hurts animals and is cruel?

B. Eat the small piece of bread, but refuse the hearty beef and barely soup, because that hurts animals and we can't have that?

C. Eat the bread, eat the soup and have the energy to cry some wet tears for the poor animal who tasted so good?

Vegetarians, do you ever eat out at these places? How do you make sure your dish doesn't have mysterious ingredients like oyster sauce?

Hi.. I been a lacto-ovo vegetarian for 17 years now, and I have always thought that "vegetarian" was pretty much the same as "lacto-ovo-vegetarian" I have been telling others that this is the case.. but thought... well.. maybe I should get other vegetarian's opinions.

Yes, of course I know that there is lacto-vegetarians and ovo-vegetarians.. but they are pretty rare indeed (especially ovo-vegetarians.) The greatest majority of vegetarians are lacto-ovo..

Vegans have their own name and are quite happy to use it.

So your opinions? Is "vegetarian" pretty much short for "lacto-ovo vegetarian"

Thoughts?? Not wanting to start an argument or anything, I just want other people's opinions..

Okay. Here's the thing. My mother is a vegetarian and although I'lll NEVER stop eating meat I do think as a compassionate human being I ought to do something. I stopped eating at KFC because the chickens there aren't just killed (which is fine with me as that's the circle of life), but they die sloooowly and suffer the entire time. Often they are boiled in hot oil while steal barely alive! It's horrible!

Now I'm thinking about the baby cows (i.e., calves) who are turned into veal. "Within moments of birth, male calves born on dairies are taken away from their mothers and loaded onto trucks. Many are sold through auction rings where they are subjected to transportation and handling stresses. The fragile animals are shocked and kicked, and when they can no longer walk, they are dragged by their legs or even their ears." They are chained so they can't move which results in disorders and they are starved.

People have been calling me anorexic and boney so I'm trying to gain so I eat stuff like donuts and such but can't gain!! How many calories should I eat a day to gain weight?

choices to be catered to automatically and do you get upset if they aren't?

By unusual, I mean "in the huge minority" so don't think I'm calling it strange ok?
