Good quality home made bread.
Toast on a fork in front of an open fire.
Add lots of butter and let it melt.
(By butter, I mean butter (sorry vegans!) but do you really want to spoil your lovely toast by smearing it in chemical ridden margarines and spreads?)

With your mouth. Failing that:
having left the butter out of the fridge for a couple of hours, spread the softened butter on the hot toast. Buttered toast is always righteous and kingly.
Sugar-free crunchy peanut butter on toast is one of my favourite, mouth-jamming breakfasts.
If you're feeling adventurous and like strong flavours, mash up half a dozen anchovy fillets with a couple of chopped cloves of garlic, a generous splash of balsamic vinegar and a good glug of olive oil. Do it in a mortar and pestle if you have one, otherwise whizz it in a blender. The resulting brown, glossy, aromatic sludge is called 'anchoiade' by French people. Toast one side of a piece of bread under the grill, spread this stuff on the untoasted side and pop it under the grill for about three minutes, or until it starts bubbling. Then eat. This will sort out the men from the boys, the women from the girls and the hardcore from the floppy. It's also one of the finest hors d'oeuvres known to humankind, superb with a glass of really gutsy red wine.

I have many favorite ways. I just like alot of butter on plain toast. I also use jelly or peanut butter (not at the same time) which gives you a boost of protein. Also, you have to try some cinnamon swirl toast. It's very good. Good luck with your toast!

I toast it then put a little butter on it when it just comes out of the toaster. Then I mix Cinnamon and sugar and put it on top of it and eat it like that. Wonderful.
I also make white sauce( put 4 tbls butter in pan, melt, put 4 tbls of flour, mix well, will become paste like, then put a cup of milk/soy milk in the pan heat until becomes like gravy, add salt and lots of pepper) then I add some asparagus or hard boiled eggs to the sauce and serve over the plain toast and eat with a fork. Thats wonderful too.

First.... the margerine MUST be applied while the toast is still warm, so it melts into the toast..
THen a generous layer of jam must be applied.. IT can be any kind of "Berry" jam.. strawberry..blackberry./raspberry...
Orange marmalade is also permitted.
On a cold day, a piece of VERY DRY..almost HARD toast can be drowned in "Fruit soup" a concoction made of fruit (canned or frozen) cooked with apple juice concentrate for sweetness and thickened with a bit of cornstarch..
